Mine is carmine red but it's a GTS with the GTS interior package so it works for my use case. I would not get it with the cognac interior.
I'd go for the IGM, as the exterior/interior is a better match and complement each other. Saw one 2 months ago at a local meet and it definitely was a looker!
What made you select Carmine over Guards red? I went with Guards and it's gorgeous, really stands out from the more muted colors available (especially now that you have to pay for nearly all of em in the 992.2). So long as you don't add to the already oversaturated gray market (pun intended), you've got a killer combo.

I slightly preferred the blood red over the orangey guards. Either one works they, love them both. Also thought carmine was more unique.
I had the same dilemma and went with carmine with black/mojave - couldn't be happier. IGM is a very interesting and sophisticated color. I saw a $250K IGM turbo decked out with a ton of carbon pieces under showroom lights and fell in love. Was sure I was going to order IGM - until I saw a base 992 with no contrasting black adds-on on a cloudy day and knew then I wouldn't be happy. My 2 cents - don't order IGM unless you see it outside lighting, and then make up your mind. For me it became an easy decision.
I had a similar dilemma for my GTS. I was set on IGM, until I saw Guards red, Carmine and IGM next to each other.
IGM is great, but you need contrast, which my GTS has, but GR popped a lot more.
In my case, my build was alcantara heavy and only leather was the dash, some door and seat, rest was alcantara and GR suited it better than Carmine.
Carmine has an elegant look and will look great with the cognac interior and is much more grown up.
IGM, if you're going for a sports car, teenage racer type thing (I went with that in my GR)
