992 Carrera T Club - New & Improved!
#361
I have the big 237 miles on the T now, seeing up to 5k revs. I just came back from a drive. I am amazed at the shift quality of the 7 speed. If you compare this to what the manual version of this gearbox felt like in 2014 it's remarkable. In fact, to me it now feels equal or better than the 6 speed. I only say better because some of those 6 speed GT3 gearboxes have tremendous movement of the shifter when applying throttle. It's been a while but I think it was fourth gear in the one I had made the thing move around like crazy. So much so you could see it out of the corner of your eye. I never liked that. This seven speed doesn't move at all. It feels perfect.
They have also tuned the exhaust really well. Can anyone confirm if the 992.1 has equal length headers? It sounds like it. I have not looked under the car. It"s quite a GT3 tone in the cabin. Also remarkable to me given how the similar engine previous generation sounded stock. Partly due to the sink header design I'm sure.
I have yet to drop some air in the tires, they came 37/45 and it's clearly too high. The setup feels really nice all around. It's amazing how they have refined it from the previous gen, which was also a great car. I don't know how they manage to pull off the stuff they pull off. Almost never misstepping. It's a special car company.

Awesome! Thanks for confirming - one more followup to that, what’s the best way to get a feel of either of those systems at work when driving? Based on the description it’s something that helps with speed in and out of corners but is there a way to feel or see it working?

PTV: Porsche Torque vectoring (I remeber this used to be a paid add on in previous generations)
Congrats! Welcome to the club, I’m supposed to take delivery today for mine (after final detailing and stuff).

There is also a NATO Olive (89) PTS T with carbon buckets. I bought it halfway across the country last week, and drove it 2k miles home, and it is completely covered in bugs until I wash it tomorrow, so no pictures yet.

My car just showed up in Baltimore at the port.
Hopefully I’ll have my car next week!!

When I eventually add a 992 T, it will be black, white , or silver. 911s look great in virtually any colour but they always look absolutely timeless in the basics. And of the 3, black just may be my favourite.......just need to retire to keep them looking perfect! @Wilder your first T was simple and perfect.
