Hi all, in the T, I found that there is often some "jittery"/jerky when shifting up from 1st to 2nd gear, after releasing the clutch without acceleration, but then shifting up from 2nd and 3rd is super smooth...

just wondering whether any other manual T owner experienced something similar.

Going to 2nd I add a little throttle as coming of the clutch to match the rpm and it’s smoother - particularly when you’re in sport/sport plus rather than normal as those modes tend to keep the revs up higher.

As above, add a little throttle. I experience what you describe here on a cold engine and gearbox, like moving out of my garage after parking overnight.
By the time engine has warmed a little and I've rowed gears a couple of times, there's no issue. (I have a GTS, but same gearbox and short shifter).

No. It’s your technique in driving.

This topic recently came up on the r/Porsche911 subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/porsche911/...at_low_speeds/

Consensus was that it is: 1) a byproduct of a cold engine / gearbox, 2) somewhat by design in how the transmission, powerband, and torque curves work in 1st gear, and 3) totally normal.

I have a similar experience in my T driving on my residential street in 1st / 2nd gear - especially after with a cold start. The car just feels like its itching to get out of 1st and wants more throttle input. Hope that helps.

There is always what feels like a throttle interruption on a cold engine at low RPM and light throttle. I think it's around 2800-2900 RPM on this 992 base engine. I have observed this on most of my 911's. I can't recall if the motorsports engines do it, but certainly the Carrera engines do.

I'm really glad this came up here. Sometimes coming out of first and going into second I feel a little resistance/mechanical feeling in the throw. It always goes into second without a problem, but it's not like coming out of second and going into 3rd which is butter smooth. I think it's rpm dependent. I'll try to give a little blip before I left the clutch back out.

amazing… my car is full of mud after Goodwood Revival 2024, but on pics it’s hardly visible.

Not sure if they still do that or not, but it made sense to me then.
BMW still does. My last G80 M3 had the break-in service at 1000 miles right before I took it to the track. Plan to do the same with the T here in a few weeks.

Thanks for the kind words @timothymoffat. Long story but I kept the car and couldn't be happier with the decision. You and I have had very similar tastes since we first met almost 20 years ago and I agree with you on monochromatic colors. Black in particular I find ages the best. It's a pain to keep clean but while other colors can date a car, black always looks fresh. Case on point, the car below is 17 years old.
