Hi guys
Just acquired my 3rd 992 which is a CS MT
from day 1 the drive mode selector on steering wheel works occasionally. It does not switch modes sometimes
It always works through PCM
dealer said, without seeing car , that it is a gateway problem which I am not really sure what it means and offered to fix car if I bring it in
I kind did not want to deal with it as I don't want to deal with the hassle of taking car in and not having the car for sometime during the summer and I can still change it through PCM
just curious if anyone here had a similar issue and if it is a simple fix .

Have you tried hitting CTRL + ALT+ DEL?
Or just removing negative cable from battery.

 

no I have not tried removing the negative cable

 

2020 C2S PDK. My sport chrono switch died (but permanently, not intermittent). PCM still worked. Dealer replaced switch under warranty. Works fine now.

took car to dealer
changed the **** ---- no good
apparently ultimate solution was the drive select mode on steering wheel was programmed for a PDK car and my car is a MT , so it had to be reprogrammed

 

Is the steering wheel controls original to the car? Lots of people update their steering wheels without knowing where it came from

 

I have a 2024 PDK and had the same thing happen to my car. Fortunately, it fixed itself after a restart and hasn’t happened again. (Dealer found no error codes when they checked).

I believe the Gateway Module is located within the center console, and can be accessed easily by removing the glove box. This was the component subject to import sanctions in early 2024, causing many of our cars to be impounded at port, until the part was replaced.

If you continue to have this problem, you should let them replace this component.

happened at delivery with 10 miles on the car , originally hit and miss, then completely broke
it is a 2024 I just ordered and received couple of months ago

 

Is yours a manual or PDK ?

 

My PDK 2022 GTS mode switch works about 25% of the time. What will disconnecting the battery cable do?
