Lack of Analog

I agree with that. But I could live with an all digital display too.

Radial gauges are good for quickly glancing where you are within a range. It’s a good application for rpm display. So, analog or digital, some type of radial gauge is probably still a good choice. The speedometer is a bad application for radial gauge because you generally want to know that information more precisely. The digital number display in the tach is much better than a radial gauge for this purpose.

While I don’t hate all-digital displays (…I really like BMW’s layout), I’m not really a fan of the Porsche’s digital experience. I think it comes across a bit cheaper and less premium feeling than the analog/dual screen layout in the .1. I feel the same way about the start/stop button and surrounding trim. The turn-key of the .1 feels more premium.

I did a machine control in all touchscreens once about 15 years ago. Just the once. I learned my lesson quickly on that one. Touch screen still play an important roll in operator interface; but you have to know when a tactile control like a button or switch or dial is going to better serve the purpose. Applies to cars too. For example, the Taycan has no volume *****. It’s + and - buttons on the screen. And it’s awful. (great car otherwise).

Precisely! A 911 does not reside at the economy end of the marketplace. Porsche would do well to appreciate this, or it's just another Corvette. FWIW, we also have a BMW i4. For a digital display in the playground it lives in, I like it. But it doesn't belong on a $150K+ car. If Porsche wants to compete in the Ferrari market, cheapening the look and feel of the product, will not help!
You should google Ferrari SF90 dash display …

Porsche does a good deal of marketing to sell the 911 brand on "heritage", motorsport innovation, and its history of success. I personally would prefer they lean into the things that align with maintaining that aspect of the 911 brand, like an analogue tach, left-hand turn to start, and clean design. I know for me the physical tach is a akin to a preferring a traditional analogue watch over a digital or smart watch. They both do the job, but emotionally there is something about the moving parts that make me prefer that experience.
