Me too; I'm waiting on my freeze on 6/25. I've finally settled on my end game build code, so I'm good to go! The base is less of a leap of faith than the GTS, but either way, this thread is premature. Damning the car before it's even out yet.

I'm still struggling with picking a color... Do you mind sharing your build?

I can see the base to become a hit once tuners unleash its potential.
If you listen to the engineers and watch the tech reviews on the 992.2 - the focus was on emissions while still improving on performance. The additional hybrid tech and digitization is just not my idea of what a sports car should be for my needs. I value as little tech as possible, more driving engagement, more sound / feel etc. The all digital gauge cluster is also terrible.

P.S. All the alternative cars out there have a digital gauge cluster, your argument doesn't make sense.

I'm going to enjoy my 992.1 for a while and then probably get a Ferrari, although it's disappointing since most brands seem to go towards that electrification look which I don't like.
Was looking at the 12 cilindri and love the engine but hate the look.
I also hate the idea of buying an older gen car so lots of conflicting thoughts so just going to maintain status quo for a while

His "argument" is that he doesn't like them. Not that there are better new options out there. I feel the same way. The .2 is an engineering masterpiece that I have no interest in and while others do, I'm not alone. Because of this, there really isn't any other new option I find better so my .1 is the end of the line for me and sportscars. Emission standards and digitization have spoiled what gave me joy with the hobby. Of course, YMMV.

I too have no issues with the new 992.2, though I think the color options are ridiculously boring for a sports car of this caliber. Therefore, I did ask my S.A. for not only a GTS PTS slot, but a European delivery as well. My Racing Yellow '23 C4S MT isn't going anywhere anytime soon. That said, I'm not really in any hurry for the new model as I just nabbed a '23 Z06 3LT convertible on Bring a Trailer with only 43 miles, Amplify Orange, full warranty, and at under list price. It will be fun to not only compare the two, but looking forward to hearing that flat plane V8 at full tilt.

Agreed. They make modern levels of power. The steering wheel is a current Porsche part number that doesn't look or feel dated. More importantly, Porsche sorted out the EPAS with the 991.2 after its 991.1 learning curve. The 991.2 cars even have CarPlay with same infotainment hardware as the 718s. 👍

Sure, my final build code is PSKDT9A5, or https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PSKDT9A5. Basically, it's Ice Grey Metallic with a blue/chalk interior. I upgraded the wheels and got FAL, sports chrono, but not the sports exhaust, as well as tech options.

Final Build!

That's not fair, it helps with additional downforce to keep you plastered on the road after a storm.

Personally, I'd take the final production year of F-Type P450 RWD over AM Vantage or DB12 any day. The F-Type is actually more bespoke with its own in-house engine (AJ133) and bespoke double-wishbone suspension design from ground-up. At 3760 lbs, the P450 RWD still lighter than most Aston Martins.

Furthermore, the F-Type is less than half the price of AM Vantage and DB 12, and it has a 5-year warranty and 5-year complimentary maintenance in the US market, compared to AM's skimpy 3-year warranty. The P450 will only cost about $80K brand-new, and the overall depreciation on that model will be less than $40K after ten years, even in a pessimistic scenario, which is about less than 1/3 of the overall depreciation amount on the DB12.

The irony of Aston Martin is that it has a tiny R&D budget that is merely a fraction of that of JLR, which is no giant when it comes to car development budgets spent by the titans of the industry.

Q.) With the disappointment of the 992.2 - what other cars are you considering?
A.) Keeping my 992.1 and waiting to see how the eCayman turns out.
