I believe it was due to a shortage of parts. They opted to keep them available on the more expensive models and builds.

I'm experiencing the same as others. My 2S (quite a few options - heritage interior, manual, sport chrono, etc.) started manufacturing on 6/4 but what just recently changed was the delivery date of 7/19 now to a window of one-month (July 8 - Aug. 6). I'm assuming its going to be closer to Aug. 6th than July 8th.

Option wise I do not think you are all that heavily loaded. I have seen individuals load up a C2S far more than that.

I guess relatively speaking it’s not “heavily loaded”. There’s quite a few more minor options I didn’t mention but those were the major things I’d assume could cause delay. That said, it sure feels heavy with a base price of $131k and an additional $45k in options haha.

My SA mentioned another customers build was over $200k. Crazy how these things can be specced.

I believe the Siem Confucius was originally due on the 12th, then the 11th, now the 10th!! Never seen this type of change. All while in the Atlantic.

It’s good news for sure and happy they have had smooth sailing. I was a positive thinker on this and booked my flight to Chicago for the 20th so hoping customs and transport keep running smoothly. If not, I can change my reservation so not a big deal. My wait has been much less than many and if all goes well, it will be less than 60 days from the time I found the allocation and got to spec the car after freeze date so if delayed in the interim, I have no complaints - UNLESS, something has gone wrong in shipping/port issues.

When I was building my T late in the cycle here I checked if PCCB was available on base and they were not. Maybe at a point they were. I have of course seen base carrera's with PCCB's, but something appears to have changed recently. Maybe for the 2024 models?

Has anyone’s manufacturing process started earlier than stated in the TYD app? I got the starting soon date on June 7 and is set to actually start on June 18, any reason for 11 days of delays to get it going?

Per my previous experience when it hits step three, step four, beginning of production seems to begin 10 to 11 days later. That appears to be the norm.

I was thinking the same about my dates...until I saw a video of the Zuffenhausen assembly line.
The assembly line is not like the ones you see in the USA where parts are just pulled out of inventory as the car rolls down the line. The Porshe way is to have every part for that particular car assigned and pre-staged way before the car is even on the assembly line. The engine and trans aren't built and assigned until the shell has been assembled, painted and has a VIN. This all happens when you see the Step-3 "starting soon date". Once you hit the Step-4 "started" date, all the pre-assigned assembled parts matched to the particular VIN, follow the shell down the assembly line. The system delivers the assigned parts staged in the order of the cars assembly to each installers station. This is their "
just-in-sequence method" of assembly...very efficient with no waisted steps. Although a lot of the process has been computerized, there are still a lot of human hours involved in making these cars...for the most part, they are still hand-made like times of old.
