Default Happy with my 992

Sorry, to me the new 992.2 is a nothing burger. Don't like anything about it. Except for "new" and a few more HP's its a bust. Already cancelled my allocation.

You can't look at the drivetrain technology in the GTS and not be impressed.

I thought all 992.2 would be hybrid.
Like all 991.2 were turbos.
Basically, no change for the base and S.

The drivetrain is definitely impressive from an engineering perspective. It just sucks that the main driver for the added complication is to reduce emissions instead of performance though.

Default Not Impressed at all

Not impressed at all! Very disappointed in Porsche after having the 992.1 out there since 2019 and this is it? Really? I find it amazing that the only real change they made for human interface was to correct the self induced problems with Homelink and some software they upgraded to when going from PCM 5 to 6 and 6.1. Drivetrain is excluded from my comments as it IS impressive but when are you Really going to exercise that power on a daily driver on public roads? I understand why the semi mechanical tach was pulled but seriously Porsche, 5 years later and this is what you came up with? Hard Pass on the .2.

Well, this is just a mild refresh and not a full makeover.

The S will not have the same engine as current. Porsche had to put the GTS turbos and Turbo cooling system to get the 992.2 base to meet emissions standards. If I had to guess the S will be a detuned version of the .2 GTS powertrain.

Electric driven turbocharger and internally integrated electric torque boost is...... a mild refresh !?!

Tough crowd

This makes sense to me.

Impressed for sure ! But would I buy a GTS in first year or even the second ? This is a complex beast. Honestly it looks like it might need as much care as a NASA Shuttle.

I will drive my 2023 C2 GTS, with it's stone age technology, and enjoy my manual.

What's going to be interesting here is what the aftermarket tuners can do with the factory hardware. The GTS is probably going to be a tough cookie to crack as far as coming up with a tune for it.

On the other hand, the C2 and I'm guessing the C2S will both have the old GTS turbos which are proven to make some decent hp numbers and now are working with an even larger intercooler. So those who want to tune their cars will probably be able to get more horsepower out of the base and the S than they will a GTS for a long time.

Just imagine the horsepower delta on the C2. 391 to over 600 crank. That's spicy

Isn't the 992.1 GTS engine the same as the Base and S engine with larger turbos? So why isn't the new base same power as the old GTS?

European emissions regulations. They have to maintain their fuel ratio throughout the entire range now so it’s not possible to do what is traditional which is to add a bunch of fuel enrichment at the high RPM to cool the combustion down. I don’t know the specifics of how it works, but what it basically means is that when an aftermarket tuner gets their hands on it, they have a lot more headroom to work with.

Because they have to run at Lambda 1. So it’s pushing more volume of air which would mean more fuel too, but they have to retard ignition timing greatly which kills power. It’s all emissions BS.
