What's going to be interesting here is what the aftermarket tuners can do with the factory hardware. The GTS is probably going to be a tough cookie to crack as far as coming up with a tune for it.
The 9A3 powertrain in the 992.2 GTS is highly complex and in its first year run. I would not do anything to risk losing my warranty early.
Tuning the 9A2 engine on the 992.2 base, however, is less problematic and been discussed ad nauseum here.
Impressed for sure ! But would I buy a GTS in first year or even the second ? This is a complex beast. Honestly it looks like it might need as much care as a NASA Shuttle.
I will drive my 2023 C2 GTS, with it's stone age technology, and enjoy my manual.
Let's not forget the delayed release, that should have happened already 2 years ago IIRC. There was at least one key component that caused a lot of headaches and caused the announcement to be pushed back time and time again.
On the other hand, there is a deadline approaching in the EU which I believe is July 2024 when all new cars sold have to meet certain new safety features which required the production of the 992.1 to be stopped in time (at least for EU market) and the start of the production of the 992.2 to begin in time to satisfy customer demand. So the release date in May 2024 is no coincidence, IMO it's pretty much a forced one. They couldn't wait much longer or face a severe interruption in production. Who knows if they fixed all the problems.
