I have a 2022 992.1 7 speed GTS that I’ve been kicking around selling to avoid downside but am now reconsidering based on the 992.2 announcement of a hybrid and PDK only GTS and large price hike (again).

Do we think this launch will cap downside on the 992.1 manual GTS? I don’t care if it appreciates, but would like to be able to drive it when I feel like without losing a ton of money.

They will likely still depreciate but at a slower rate and have a higher price point they bottom out at compared to PDK cars.

991.1 is the last real 911 because NA, everything else will drop in value because all turbos

991.2 is the last real 911 because real gauges and size, everything else will drop in value because too digital and too big.

992.1 is the last real 911 because you can get manual transmission still and nothing electric, everything else will drop in value because no manuals and electric......

They will bring back the manual in 2026 with marketing/hype, just no manual for 2025.

I'm guessing the S model with a manual will be identical to 992.1 GTS from an engine hardware perspective.
Obviously won't have a GTS aesthetics and will follow the 992.2 interior "upgrades".

Base prices are up - so that makes getting into a GTS more expensive and will likely keep 992.1 prices high. Depreciation is highly speculative, especially since the pandemic turned everything upside down like AKKutz's avatar. I think the manual ones will fetch good prices for a long time, but people looking for the manual experience will probably go for whatever 992.2 is available in manual (probably the S).

Have any of these above predictions not eventually come to pass? Once a generation is >~10 years old. Pretty much every generation of 911 now sells for as much as, or more than, its successor generation if mileage and trim level/options are held equal. Said another way a 5000 mile 993 is generally worth more than a 5000 mile 997.2 of comparable spec, and a 5000 mile 997.2 is generally worth more than a 5000 mile 991.1 of similar spec, etc. I expect that once 991.2s are old enough to no longer be considered late model cars, that 991.1s of a given mileage will be worth more than their 991.2 counterparts and so on with the 992.1. You can already see it with low mileage, later 991.1 GTSs selling for comparable amounts as the earlier 991.2 GTSs. The 996 and 997.1 don't fit the pattern because of the well documented catastrophic engine issues (IMS, bore scoring) with the M96/97 engine family, but are kind of the exceptions that prove the rule.

No, sorry. Looking at a 2024 7M GTS, but dealer wants $30k over MSRP....I'd just like to buy the car and not have to play these games. Hoping that people don't want to buy manual so I can......sorry if you disliked my comment.

I get it and no worries. Appreciate the honesty. I paid a small markup for mine because manuals are so uncommon. If you can find one with a 10-15k markup it might be worth it given all the price hikes. My car would cost more to spec today than I paid in markup, so time could be on your side.
