I'm curious to see what the internally driven water pump design looks like. I can see it being much more reliable than the existing water pumps which depend on a vacuum signal and a bunch of rubber seals for the variable pumping control. And as we all know, it's hose rubber seals that fail. As for the e-turbo, the tech has been used in Formula 1 since 2014. A decade of motorsports use, the thermals will have been figured out. And Porsche used a turbine connected to an electric motor on the 919 race car.
As for why no manual, I can see the complexity and cost of trying to design a completely different transmission with electric motor integration. The take rate on manual GTSs was probably so low, there was no business case. If you want a manual, buy a GT3 or T.
Oh yeah, with the single turbo asymmetric layout, the engine basically has an unequal length header setup and now everyone will complain it sounds like an old Subaru.
Strategy to compensate for the added weight. Most will take the $0 "+2" option. (I feel like a 911 should always be a 2+2 standard for heritage reasons).
That's what the base and S variants are for. GTS is the go-fast one, so ditch the rear seats.

No issues with a performance oriented variant not having a "+2".
However, the Base is also a 2 seater now, with a "+2" as a $0 option.
Because the Base car retains the older 9A2B6 engine from the 992.1, does this mean that an unoptioned 992.2 Carrera Base weighs less than a 992.1 Carrera Base?

100%. So glad I was able to get my 992.1 GTS in 2024 prior to the hybridization. I could care less about the HP bump compared with being able to keep my manual transmission.
I also have a 992.1 7MT and had a stage 1 ecu tune put on it last week by DMS here in the uk. I now have more power and torque than the new .2 and also have the manual box and third pedal to play with. It’s a beast of a thing, 600Bhp & 700Nm of torque.
What do you guys think about the new lights with the slits for daytime running? My initial reaction is that they are shoehorning the Tacan look in the 911. The slits go against the overall curved looks of the 911....doesn't feel like it was meant to be as part of the overall design.

Interesting. Could be Porsche had to reduce mass to meet emission targets. Game the system.
Not sure I wouldn't want this.. With the added complexity, battery maintenance and battery pack longevity, it becomes a lot more expensive long term.... not to mention all those bugs to work out the 1st or 2nd yr.

yea I would be waiting for the bugs to be worked out as well, Plus I have to no Targa other then GTS

I was expecting the headlights to look better, because this was one area they kept camouflaged till the end.
However, I was disappointed with the final reveal.
I still like the 992.1 turn signals lights in the bumper. The 992.2 bumper looks empty, and the headlamps also look empty, hollowed out.
I wonder if the internals of the new lights are lifted from other Porsche models, as a cost cutting measure, with the round "911" lenses simply grafted in front?
