Is a red bar at the bottom of the reverse view normal?

I have it on my 24 as well.
I believe this is to highlight the rear of the car when backing up. Without it you would see the rear bumper, but in different lighting conditions the bumper could be washed out and give you a false sense on where to stop, the red bar provides a consistent visual representation of the bumper - weirdly the red bar actually pivots and moves slightly when the steering wheel is turned.
It may even be a new requirement for backup cameras as I have noticed this lower red bar on a few other new cars as well.

Red Bar is normal - my 2022 992 Targa had it and my 2024 Targa has it.
I think it might not be there if you do not have surround view (my 2020 992 coupe did not have surround view, just the normal backup camera). I do not remember a red bar, but someone without surround view can verify.

Base on this information…
- No Red bar = Cars without surround view (2018-2024)
- Red bar = Cars with surround view (2018-2024)

Now I need to check mine... I have surround view and thought the red bar just showed up when you were close to something. Not sure what the problem is though... thats clearly the zone you don't want to see anything in so philosophically this makes sense.

To dispel another hypothesis, I also have activated Matrix LEDs and no red bar.
I guess my car is just a unicorn... Electric steering column, no red bar, activated Matrix LEDs, remembers its bass/treble settings... 😁
