What's going on with the 911 sales numbers?

This is a case of not looking deep enough. That car in particular had a msrp of $113,120 in 2022. It is sitting because this dealers greed, not due to demand issues. It’s a near three year old base car still asking $10k over msrp and must have been $25k over if there was a near $15k price reduction. So yeah, of course it’s going sit. Cannot use these examples to decipher market demand.
Many Porsche 911 dealers continue to miscalculate real-time demand and are putting a facade to make them look like as if it's still the COVID car shortage era.

sorry what is the 23 decrease in sales? Just trying to understand the post.
Edit: This about the NA 23% decrease. We need the PCNA sales per model to understand if the 911 is affected or if this is primarily because of Panamera and the Taycan.

For those posting the decrease worldwide is because of the US market ADM and the dealer tricks:From what I uderstand ADM is happening only on 911 cars. Well 911 sales are up 8% worldwide and they shipped 28,212 911 units in the first half of 2024 - more than ever, seems now they are gojng for 60k 911 units per year. So it has nothing to do with the US dealer tricks on the 911 and seem there is not much slowdown.
The problematic cars are the Panamera and the Taycan. They have posted that the panamara decrease is logical because of the model change. There was no comment about the Taycan.
Considering the stupid decision to update within 1 year their whole line the brand is still doing quite well. 2025 will be a crucial year though and the huge decline on panamera and taycan sales has to be tackled somehow.

911 NA sales are up YoY through the first half of the year. Further proof that the Q1 dip in sales was due to cars being held at port due to that banned Chinese part versus demand falling off.

911 sales are up 8% YoY.
Overall Porsche sales are down 50%, however, which is attributable primarily to the Taycan and to some extent the Panamera.

Wow, Taycan sales down 51%. That one sure fell out of bed as the realities of EVs have become more well known.

Funny how some EV models still do well.
Maybe it’s the pricing? Maybe people are waiting for a refreshed Taycan? For my money, the Taycan looks too much like the Panamera…which has been dying for years.
But Americans love their SUV’s, so maybe that plays into it? I suspect this will tap into the Macan sales….

I was going to put $100 down for the R2 just for fun until I saw no HUD, no Apple CarPlay, no heat/vent/massage seats, etc, etc.
I think peak EV has occurred until there is a better combination of real world range and infrastructure, at least for the folks like me who live in deplorable lands.

It doesn’t mention the requirements/penalties for getting on the wait list. I didn’t bother checking but one can “order” a Rivian R2 (2026 ish) for a fully refundable $100 deposit. So there’s also “massive demand” for the R2 (68,000 “orders” when I last checked), but that’s a far cry from 70k new EVs being purchased or leased in a couple years.

We’ll see, won’t we.
Depending on what the finished product looks and sells for, I think it will do well with upscale buyers.
