It's my turn! Critique my build Targa 4 GTS
Well the time has finally arrived. Just secured an allocation to build my first 911 and it will be a targa 4 GTS! Truly feels like a dream as I never thought I would be in a position to ever own something like this. I have gone through my share of many cars over the past decade and after having experienced them all, nothing beats a 911 and targa has always been the top of my list. I have had a base 992 previously and currently drive a 991.2 C2S Cab which I will be trading in. This will mainly be a weekend/summer car and I am hoping to keep this one for a long time. I did have a brief thought that perhaps I should wait for the 992.2 but I am not sure what will happen to the GTS and whether the manual option will go away. Felt like it was enough uncertainty to pull the trigger.
Build code: PRDKNLB6
https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PRDKNLB6
Some highlights include:
Chalk exterior (debating between this vs agate vs GT silver)
Turbo wheels (debating between this and the spyder for 5 lugs although won't be changing my own wheels).
Black/bordeaux interior (considering the GTS interior package but seems pricey. Another option is truffle)
Manual transmission (haven't had one in almost 20 years but grew up with a manual - Mitsubishi eclipse!).
Bose (I like music so could be swayed towards Burmeister but bose seems pretty decent in the base 992 I had before)
I know a lot of people recommend PDCC and RAS. I won't be tracking the car so I don't know how much I need it.
Appreciate this forum and the input as always. Sounds like I have a bit of time before it locks and it set for an August build. Cheers!

Not sure why folks always post these as all these builds are so personal and shouldn't really matter what other like or not but since you asked.
1. Chalk for sure over those other colors. GT Silver gets boring quick and nothing special about the color (I had one)
2. Center locks look great. However is a weekend car and you do drives in rural areas and roads good luck if you get a flat.
3. I find all the red interior options are ugly but you do you. Plenty like it. I would pass.
4. The PDK is so good not sure why anyone would buy a manual in a Porsche.
5. If you like music just get the Burmeister. It is way better.
Either way who really cares what others think including myself. Buy what YOU like.

I think posting for opinions helps. My build was the my first porsche, so it was helpful to hear about possible issues with rattles etc. Initially had lane keep assist but ended up nixing and saved some cash. Having said that, clearly personal choice on looks. Build looks great. Enjoy and congrats.

Where is the fun if we don't get to discuss these things on a forum like this?? I know it will ultimately be my decision but I always enjoyed seeing how others have spec'd their cars. And it is especially helpful to hear experiences about what options they wish they did or didn't get as they have had some time with the car.

1. Consider both FAL as well as RWS -- I use FAL every time I drive, and the RWS makes the car's cornering feel like it's on rails;
2. For exterior appearances, I suggest you consider the sport design side skirts in Chalk and the silver-tipped exhaust pipes -- I was on the fence before ordering both, but the body-color skirts complete the side profile of the car IMHO and the siver tips break up the all-black plastic area in the middle rear bumper; and
3. For interior appearances, IMHO you can't go wrong with the 930 leather package (one of the things I truly enjoy looking at when getting in and out of the car) and, since this is the Targa and the top will be down exposing the sun visors on a regular basis, the leather sun visors really improve the overall look from the outside.
In any case, ultimately buy what you like and enjoy in good health!!

I would add the interior trim inlays in matte carbon fiber and also add that trim to your GT steering wheel.
The Burmester is a big step up from the Bose. Go to the dealer and compare.

if you can swing another $1500, get 930 leather package

I would add 930 package and interior trim inlays in leather (no cost option on GTS), or matte carbon fiber. These options will make the interior look like a much better place.
The Burmeister, to me, sounds a little bit cleaner and more accurate than the Bose but I went with the Bose because the soundstage in the 911 is very limited in terms of speaker placement and because of that the Burmester was not worth the expense in my opinion. For a car stereo system to truly sound great the tweeters have to be facing towards driver and high up in the door or in the a pillar....the location in these cars shooting upwards towards the windshield is far less than ideal.

Did not realize how much the interior trim inlays in leather changes the interior! Good catch on that and something I surely would not have thought about!

I ordered the 930 leather and the interior trim inlays in leather on my coupe and really like the look. My S is Agate on Bordeaux/Black....so same interior as your build. I like your build....very driver focused.
