Anyone upgraded before. I see lots of comments about people switching and loving the new platform and others who upgraded and then ended up going back to the 991.2 platform. Curious to hear others feedback.
Not tracking the car. I do enjoy a more purist feel but the added tech and creature comforts of the 992 seem nice for casual weekend drives.

Both have around the same HP, but the interior is much more modern in the 992, plus the PCM is much upgraded. However, I think the 991.2 interior appears to be more solidly constructed.

I went the similar route going from a 991.2 Carrera S PDK, to a 992 Carrera T PDK.
In my opinion the 992 feels more analog in the steering department, power feels very similar 420hp vs 379hp but with the new 8 speed.
I'm happy overall with the newer car as the chassis and tech feel like an upgrade however its a larger car and feels just a bit bigger than my old one.
For my use case, it's great as its my GT car and the wife and I use it for weekend trips and PCA events, its such a good GT car - The Cayman is my sport car.

I’m in the minority. I went from a 2019 GTS to a 2024 GTS and wish I had my 991.2 back. The power was about the same but the 992 didn’t sing to me. The steering wheel obscures the outer dials, the door handles are dumb, too much software, and most importantly for me, I don’t like the sport exhaust note. If I can find a nice 991.2 Carrera GTS I will jump on it.

I did. I went from 19 GTS to 2020 S. My 992 experience sucked. Both of mine where buy backs. I think the 992 S was faster. But the 991.2 GTS just felt faster. The 992 felt somewhat boring to drive. The 991.2 GTS just felt more engauging to me. I dunno. I loved the 992 tech. But honestly, I really liked my 991.2's the most. I like buttons vs glass.

Some interesting comments. I think it depends what you put more weight on. I went from 991.2 T to a 992 GTS. If I was in your shoes I'd go 992 S. From an S to GTS is not a huge jump and I would have been fine with an S, if the dealer had an allocation. Anyway, if you put more weight on tech and an overall more advanced car then 992. If you think you'll miss some of the buttons and older interior of the 991.2, then go with that. I would definitely drive a 992 and see.

I have both a 991.2 Targa GTS and a 992 Targa GTS. I'm slow to adopt but I prefer the 991.2 over the 992 mainly due to interior details. Both are manuals. The cup holder on the 991.2 is ridiculous but the one in the 992 s right in the way of your arm when shifting. The infotainment screen is too far away from the driver and too wide. In the 991.2, the screen and HVAC buttons are right in front of your hand and easily reached. I like the door panels better in the 991.2 with the bigger door opener and the fold out door pocket. The instrument cluster is too wide and obstructed at the outer edges but this has been beaten to death. On the outside, the 992 looks better except for the exterior door pulls. 991's are far more practical. I also prefer the exhaust note on the 991.2. To me the 992 GTS sounds like a Turbo S and to that is not good to my ears. Also to me they both drive the same.
