Default Tire: patch or replace?

Would you patch this hole on brand new tire, or replace it?

That can be patched on the inside. I have patched several tires on my 911 and Cayman and never had an issue.

First off, the screw may not have penetrated all the way through. If it has, it looks to be well away from the sidewall. Patch 👍

If the nail ruptured the steel belt then the tire integrity is compromised. Why risk the chances of an accident? Replace 100%. If it was a civic and city commute then patch.

Sorry but I disagree, it can be easily patched IF you remove the tire from the wheel to do the repair. If you're going to run the car at an HPDE you assert the tires are not patched on the tech form (usually), this is not something I would do (patch/run at HPDE).

From the picture...tire doesn't look
deflated.
Unless tracking the car. Patching from the inside....should be fine.

I'd plug it from the inside.

Patch, but who will do it? Most tire places won’t touch custom wheels (AMG, center locks etc). If it was on the shoulder, no shop will touch it.

Costco will plug to fill the void and patch on the inside.

Definitely plug/patch. I've done this on many tires and they've all held up without issue. It is completely safe even for high speed, aggressive driving. Every Discount Tire will plug/patch that for free including properly rebalancing the rim/tire.
