V200 status is if the build gets accepted by Porsche. For my GTS, I wanted SB colour and aerokit (just the wing and front, can't do centre lock wheels). Since my build was close to the SB becoming discontinued, SA tried putting it through, but it would get rejected (almost immediately), so I went with Ice Grey Mettalic with a Carmine Red GTS interior.
My build was supposed to be built on March 12th, but got pushed by 5 weeks due to Carmine Red deviated stitching of all things, no issues with the aerokit.
Once you go through and get a confirmation number, you can see the V200 (and other status) on the website (need to inspect the code, but **** easy).
The v200 code comes after the freeze point or before?
Yeah for some reason can't find the v200 when I do inspect and I even used the search feature after parsing through the page, my SA sent me the initial paperwork after updating my build and it shows v200 so its a good sign I hope
I’ve never been able to get one of the limited 911 allocations up here but given the opportunity to spec my very own T or GTS I would probably go with the one that suits the roads you’ll be driving on more than anything else. Me for my personal use case I would be better suited with a T or and S as our roads suck around here and I know I would never get the use of the extra power and stiffer suspension.
Neither cars are a GT3/RS/ST or even sport classic, they are just standard production Carrera’s so I don’t think either will be more or less collectible in the future. If the 991.2 is any indication the T and GTS seem to be selling at similar prices.
As @fullyield mentioned, the spec weight is all about the starting point of the base configuration of each variant. The T starts off base in its lightest configuration, with rear seat delete, LW glass, Li battery, 19”/20” wheels and MT, while the GTS is PDK and does not have any “weight reduction” features. Spec the two cars similarly and the weight difference is limited to the bigger turbos, helper springs and bigger brakes, which will not amount to a big difference (~20lb). It’s all about marketing .
I'm a GTS owner (RWD and manual) and I vote for the T. I also have a Spyder. The power difference is irrelevant to me. I wish I did not have RAS on the GTS; it just feels artificial to me. I think a lower powered, lighter, simpler (admittedly only marginally so in all three categories) 911 would be ideal. And if it had a 6-speed manual and an engine in the middle, it would be perfect!
The T is a great 911. Had a 2019 991.2 Carrera T and recently test drove a new Shark Blue 2024 T with a manual transmission. The car drives great and sounds good, but, if I am being honest with myself, I did find myself wanting for more power during those 3rd gear highway pulls from 60-90 MPH. I started to get bored with the engine shortly after that.
Came back to the dealership and immediately hopped in a Carrera S and could not wipe the smile off my face. You can guess which model 992 I am getting.
