Default So I made a speccing mistake

I didn't think I would need the 18 way electric sports plus seats because I'm the only one who will be driving this car.

So I ordered the 4 way sports plus thinking I'd definitely get lumbar support and didn't even think about the passenger mirror tilting down when in reverse. Even more I didn't think about these things.

I blame myself and the sales rep for not informing me. Anyway I've gotten over it now.

Is there anything I can do to get the mirrors to tilt automatically when I hit the reverse? I know there's nothing I can do about the lumbar support.

I don't think this will make you feel any better but I turn off the function of the tilting mirrors, I see no use to it and don't like it. I hope you get used to It to the point that it won't matter to you.

Hey homie, don't sweat the mirror tilting thing. The vast majority of us are older, and have driven cars with just regular ole' rear view mirrors most of our lives anyways when you think about it. The memory mirrors tilting in reverse in a relatively new feature in stanard cars, and maybe barely a decade old in luxury cars. You will be okay without, even if it means just manually power adjusting for a second while backing up. (You'll still get power adjustment. No sticking your hand out the window to tilt manually like the old days ha!)

For the lumbar support, it's not a big deal either. You can get hundreds of products of amazon to help with that. I have a neck pillow in my 911 and I've got an old Mercedes E-Class that I put a lumbar pillow in. It has lumbar support but still wasn't enough! You'll be good!

I'm 6'2" 240# 64 y.o. with two herniated discs in my lumbar spine which are 99% of the time, asymptomatic. I have the 4 ways and have zero complaints. You'll be fine, the auto mirror thing is a distraction, you don't need it.

You're worried about the auto mirror tilt on reverse?

Really?

Wow. Your life must be perfect, or very nearly so.

You're my hero.

I also have the 4 way with surround view, but would still like to have my passenger mirror dip when reversing. I like to see the curb directly in the mirror, still can't get use to trusting the camera.

I have the 4 way sports on my current Targa 4S. I actually ordered it due to having the 992 coupe before with 18ways and surround view - never used the tilting mirror, and with surround view, you don't really need it.

Honestly if you position your mirrors correctly (as in race track specification) you should point them so you do not see the back of your car and slightly down. With this you should see any curbs your backing up to and with surround view (or even the basic back up) you should be fine.

Also - IIRC it saves like 40lbs-50lbs or something off the weight of your car with the 4 way manual seats as opposed to the 18ways. That is something :-)

I actually like the passenger tilt. Helps me with parallel parking.

That's funny. I consider 4 ways an upgrade and tilting mirrors unnecessary in a 911. Those options belong in luxury SUVs or sedans IMO.
