I just got my wife a base 2023 for her daily and Im super impressed. I had an 08 C4S, 2017 GT4 and currently own a 718 Spyder and Im really happy with this car. They sold it for about $3k off the MSRP and I paid $2700 for the 3 year of CPO so a ton of warranty left. Car had about 3800 miles on it and came with 2 prepaid services and a full clear bra on the nose.
Acceleration is stellar and the Burmester (to me) is miles ahead of the Bose. 100% dont feel like we settled not getting the S (my wife has zero clue what an S even is !).

Your car may have a "base" engine, suspension, and brakes...but the rest is not base but a very nicely optioned 911. I also found the base engine a great setup for my personal needs. I dont race and like the steeper torque curve at lower RPM. Suspension - I already changed all that anyway and brakes are plenty capable for my use. I am planning to go to the larger gyrodisk rotors as soon as my current rotors are done. I would never diss a S or GT version - great cars and if money does not matter, why not. When someone asked me what I have, I always respond "just a base Carrera".

i wanted PDK and regular PASM for my daily use and I don't plan to track the car. What's not to like! I've done manual and SPASM with previous Boxster and Cayman (both S). You can never get too much power, lol, but base has plenty. People who have the S might question if they should have gotten the GTS and so on... It's a personnal choice even though for some of us money can also be a factor. Very happy with my 2023 Carrera 4!

I may be in the minority where I stepped into my S and wondered if I should have gotten base because the S is so darn quick. Barely get to rev it out before it hits an unreasonable speed on public roads.
Indeed, many reviewers say the same thing - the less powerful engine is more engaging because you have to work it more during spirited diving. If you could get the base with the S brakes, that would be a good combination.
This car was definitely loaded up with options for a base. I love the engine sound w the sport exhaust- acoustically it sounds better than my 718 spyder !

You dont even get that much time at full throttle in a base on most roads with the twin turbo 3.0L + PDK setup. Also, the base is apparently the most underrated 911 model from the factory.
