What are these white dots and marks on the rotor hat
Hi guys,
I’m curious what these white marks and residues are. They can’t be wiped off. Look like splashes of a white paint

Looks almost like some type of salt stain. Looks as if it is on the rim too. Did you try some WD 40 on a rag to see if it wipes off? I had a jeep Rubicon which I took to an automatic car wash really messed up my after market rims. They must have used some type of acid cleaner for the rims....and of course they deny any responsibility. I only wash my 911 GTS by hand using real mild chemicals for the rims and a lot of elbow grease. Good luck.

Have you had you paint polished/corrected? It kinda looks like polish residue from a random orbital buffer.

992 hats extremely sensitive and will discolor over time…not sure what Porsche/Brembo has done on this generation, but we see lots of discoloring and staining …even on brand new cars after a few washes

also, what is this mark on the edge of the rotor? I can scratch it off with my nail.

It's best for your sanity to stop worrying about little superficial stains on your iron brake rotors which are a consumable part. Drive your car more so the rotors wear down and replace them.

You sure it was a cat?

Remove the rotor and get it turned every 1000 miles (or after you wash the car) to remove any imperfections that will impact your braking performance. Use steel wool wheel or sand paper on the rotor hat.

Definitely... 'rotor maintenance' is every 1k miles, who knew?
