Default 2022 Carrera Based vs 2020 Carrera S same price and miles

I am looking to buy a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Carrera. I have found two models, both with 8K miles and the same price. They both come with the same options: Premium Package, Chrono Package, and Sports Package. One is a 2022 base Carrera, and the other is a 2020 Carrera S. Which one should I choose?

Drive them both and see how they feel and which one you like better; decide with your heart. 2020 is 4 years ago, 2022 is 2 years ago. Everyday driving you will not notice much difference S vs. Base. Unlike in previous generations, cars look similar and both equally wide. Go with what makes you smile more. The one that makes you turn and look back, whether color or interior or any intangible, that's the one you pick. If neither make you feel that way, then back away and keep looking.

Many layers of argument for S vs. Base yet Porsche Marketing has made everybody run after the T which is a base with less sound deadening and small brakes. Moral of the story is a lot of this is marketing, the differences within the range are subtle. Spec'ing a sports Pasm on a S will make it more sporty than picking a GTS with the non-sport Pasm. If you really want power then when you feel comfortable get a Softronic tune and you will be making more power than stock GTS in the base.Etc. Etc.

I believe 2022 has the updated PCM, which might matter to you. You can search to confirm.

Thanks for the feedback, CatDog2. You are right; with Porsche, it's all about the heart

If you still have a hard time you could see if they are willing to discount one more than the other worth a shot.

Both great cars. If you have any inclination for tracking the car go with the S. If it's more of a daily driver go with the Base. No wrong choice there.

Setting aside the base vs S debate, get the "newest one that you can afford" applies here.
I presume that both cars are CPO. If only one of them is CPO'd, that's the one to buy.

With that being said, you can't get the sport package on the Base. So, these cars are not identical specs. Do you have links to the cars?

How much does additional power mean to you-and I am not talking about 0-60 times. With 50+ additional torque the S will just be more responsive when you give it some gas in normal driving.

Agree. In a few years the 2 year difference wont matter. The S vs non S will.

In the 2 years there was at least one standard option added, comfort access. There may be others? Probably not important for most people but I wanted it.

I think i'd be Bias towards the S because of the sport package.
