No 992s to be had...unless you wait forever!

I'm a first-time buyer. I just walked in and ordered my C2S. No wait list. No ADM.
Another dealer I went to wanted me to buy a used car from her then trade it in to get an allocation. So it seems like there are places that do funny business. However, I believe that there are many reasonable dealers who will just sell you the car sticker price. In reading a few forums, it also seems that Carrera T allocations are pretty commonplace. You probably just have to check a few places.

If it's not exactly what you want, decide first if it's the car you want now. I agree with the other member who says - Buy the car, not the deal.
If you seriously want that car go down there and negotiate to drive it away today. You can negotiate the ADM down, try but maybe not to zero. For most here (discussing 6-figure fun cars) a small amount of $$$ is not worth waiting indefinitely longer. Don't let a relatively little money vs. the car price get in the way of immediate happiness (unless you are one of those folks who REFUSE any ADM on principal, then continue to wait).

And yes, I am one of those folks that refuse to pay ADM’s.

Is the S still difficult to get in most places. On a whim, I called 2 local dealers 2 weeks, both of which had C2S and T allocations. One wanted 10k ADM and the second gave me a C2S allocation with a March build date at MSRP, no ADM. No trade in and no history with the dealer. Interestingly he said an ADM would be required if I didn't live locally. Unfortunately I got a little carried away with the configurator and optioned my car until a similar build GTS would only be 15k more. Would love to get a GTS, but my dealer said it would definitely require an ADM and no promise of when I'd get an allocation. I have no idea if I got lucky or if the market for S allocations is loosening up

OP here with an update. Out of area dealers were reluctant to either put me on a list or required an ADM even if you got on a wait list. Got a call back from one of my local dealerships who just received a bunch of allocations across a variety of Porsche models. I was able to secure a C2 S allocation at MSRP. Delivery date early August. Super excited!

I think if you buy a car like this in NJ, even if you are from out of state, you pay the NJ luxury tax on it.

After waiting almost a year, I gave up on the 992 GTS and bought a CPO'ed 992S and added some mods to be beyond GTS experience and performance (intake, exhaust, and Ohlins). Made enough of a difference that I am not really considering a GTS anymore. If I do decide, it'll have to be in lightweight form (manual, lighter windows, carbon buckets with rear seat delete, etc.).
Used 992 S has come down in price a bit where it's a lot more rational than the $15K ADM new.
