Don't know the dynamics of your locale. Did you order from a Penske dealer? I guarantee you, if someone walks in there and offers $10K over MSRP, you and everybody else at MSRP, just dropped one position on the list. Rinse, repeat, with everyone else who walks in and is willing to pay over.
OP here. Thanks for all of the responses and thoughts. I've started searching across the country and there are certainly some decent new cars out there but very few that are ticking my must have boxes for colors, options. I think I'll go ahead and get on a few waiting lists...can always back out if I find a good car in the meantime. I sold my 991 when I thought I would stick with just my 2 air cooled cars...but have now decided to add a 992. Bummer...I see the connection where the 991 would have been the ticket to a 992.
I see that there are quite a few T's available new but I'm not considering them as the car will be used for long road trips in a addition to track days and am concerned about the extra noise due to less sound deadening material. Anyone have thoughts on using a T for long road trips, or have done it? Noise levels vs S and GTS? Thanks.
I'm a first-time buyer. I just walked in and ordered my C2S. No wait list. No ADM.
Another dealer I went to wanted me to buy a used car from her then trade it in to get an allocation. So it seems like there are places that do funny business. However, I believe that there are many reasonable dealers who will just sell you the car sticker price. In reading a few forums, it also seems that Carrera T allocations are pretty commonplace. You probably just have to check a few places.
Sold my 991 C4S to get into a 992. Yeah right...good luck to me!
Everyone wants a deposit to just get on a list that might get you a spot in a year or so. I was targeting a GTS but might be too old to drive by the time an allocation comes up! C2S or C4S would be fine as an alternate...pretty much the same situation.
I found a new car (C4S)at a dealer in So.Cal (I'm in the Bay Area) that I liked, but they wanted $15K ADM on an already $188K car. Not gonna do that. They're also very reluctant to sell to someone out of the area.
I respect all of you that waited for 2 years or more to get your cars, but I'm more the instant gratification type. Not a good type to be in what still appears to be a crazy low supply high demand market.
Trying to figure out what I do next and will enjoy my SC and 993 in the meantime.
Instant gratification is available at a markup. Everything is possible my friend.
I see new or near new 992s pop up for sale in Facebook groups all the time. Recently they don't seem that unreasonably priced. Maybe you could look there

they all have road noise, regardless of what Porsche says in their marketing material.

Consider upgrading to the nicer seats if you can. I optioned the 18 ways for that exact reason.
Central New Jersey. Could be since there's high sales volume in this region, there's an abundance of allocations.
I am in central Jersey too and looking for a T but none of the dealers I visited had any allocations. Brooklyn NY even wanted ADM for a T that was about to arrive.

Paul Miller Porsche in Parsippany has a really nice T available right now.
It’s nicely equipped: Manual, Jet Black/ 4 way with Lizard Green, lizard green sport Chrono and Tach, Bose, sunroof (not glass), front lift, ambient lighting, matrix lights, extended range tank, etc…
