Hiding a Tune?
#46
Doubtful you could get away with hiding the tune from Porsche, even though you may get away from your wife.
I mean, of all things I've heard people hiding from their spouses, this certainly sounds like one of those things where you should just be honest about it? Why complicate and put yourself in a lose/lose situation?

Love the idea of the OP telling his missus…
“Yes, dear, I admit I’ve been ******** my secretary for months. And her sister. And her mother. But I swear I’ve haven’t touched the ECU on the Porsche…”

The actual topic of this thread disappointed me.
I thought you were going to tell us about how the 992 could secretly play a Rammstein song.

I decided to listen to wiser words and sought opinion of the wife.
"Theres a 0.01% chance that it might cause engine problems and a 0.01% chance that Porsche may not honor the warranty."
"No."

See you guys after warranty ends.

Is there something magical that happens after warranty ends that makes tuning more palatable? If your engine blows up after your warranty expires do you plan on not fixing the car?
The reality is it’s best to tune the car when it is relatively new and car is functioning optimally. Waiting till warranty ends to tune the car for fear of no warranty coverage if car blows up makes zero sense because you will still pay out of pocket to fix the engine just like you would if you blew up the motor with a tune when the car is new.

Hey guys, I have a 992 C2S and reading all these tuning results on the forums has made an itch. I mean, 100bhp from a software? How good is that.
My arrangement with the wife has always been, I choose the car, she chooses the colors. This "technically" is the wife's car, "technically" she drives it more than me. I only get to play on the weekends. But she's never gone out of normal mode when alone. So I am wondering.... if I could Stage 1 tune it, get that oomph, but she'll still be in normal mode, so she's none the wiser?
Its not that I cant tell her, but in the back of her mind it'll always be "I dont need that power, its too dangerous, is it safe for the engine etc." I'd rather just skip that. So the question is.....you all think she will notice?

If it's "her" car - you know what to do.
If it's "your" car - you know what to do.
If it's "both of your car" - you know what to do.
P.S. My car. My tune. ;}

This excludes the case that the engine has a non-tune related issue during the warranty period that would have been fixed under warranty had the tune not been installed.

And..hands up anyone who would trust Porsche to honour warranty on a PDK fault (or any expensive-to-fix/replace item) if it discovered an engine tune?
