Hehe. I am usually very honest with the wife. I view this as more of a white lie. Kinda the thing where “does my *** look fat” does not need an honest answer.
yeah I agree it’s pretty much a ****post. I don’t need a tune. But who really “needs” one anyways these days.

You can chose to believe whatever you want, but Porsche can detect tunes if they want to, there are enough reports of this around for you to search and find some. You can ask your dealer what the process is but my SA has told me that for large engine/transmission issues Porsche has requested data downloads from the ECU.
As far as I know, Porsche does not evaluate the ECU for tunes every time a car goes into the dealership for service the way Audi does.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
The burden is on Porsche to prove what you did or what part you used caused the failure.*
That being said, if your tune DID blow up the engine, then yeah its gonna be on you. Otherwise simply having a tune isn't enough to void a warranty.
*AFAIK

Hey guys, I have a 992 C2S and reading all these tuning results on the forums has made an itch. I mean, 100bhp from a software? How good is that.
My arrangement with the wife has always been, I choose the car, she chooses the colors. This "technically" is the wife's car, "technically" she drives it more than me. I only get to play on the weekends. But she's never gone out of normal mode when alone. So I am wondering.... if I could Stage 1 tune it, get that oomph, but she'll still be in normal mode, so she's none the wiser?
Its not that I cant tell her, but in the back of her mind it'll always be "I dont need that power, its too dangerous, is it safe for the engine etc." I'd rather just skip that. So the question is.....you all think she will notice?

Potential fix here. Buy a second ECU. Have it coded to your VIN. Put the tune on it. Swap back and forth. Would this break the communication with other modules and render the car immobile after an OTA? Probably. But your tune would be hidden

While it may hide the tune from your spouse, this does not hide your tune from Porsche. Even with an ECU swap, there are other counters and systems that can be used to identify that there was a tune.

^^^ which has nothing to do with OP's original question.
