PCCB
I’ve just been given an allocation for a 992 GTS RWD. As I’m putting together my build I heard from the dealer that PCCB last 3-4 times as long as standard steel brakes.
(per Dealer)
PCCB: last 100k
Steel Brakes: last 20-40k
Not sure if I want to spend $9k now then $17k later for replacement for PCCBs versus $7800 for steel replacements.
I’m also thinking that the steel brakes would be a better pick as PCCB would scare off potential buyer (waaay down the road).
I’m planning on making this my daily driver, averaging 9-10k / year of mostly highway driving.
question: what are everyone’s thoughts about which type of brake to pick.
Thx.

The only advantage of PCCB for street driving is the lack of brake dust. Given the cost of PCCB, that is a very expensive benefit. Replacing a steel rotor is relatively cheap, certainly shouldn’t cost $7K. You do that type of work at an independent shop, not the dealership. And steel rotors can easily last more than 50K miles under street driving conditions. You were fed dealer sales baloney.

Whichever one you can comfortable afford within your budget.
And this is regardless of whether you just daily your car, or track it every day.

My 2 cents FWIW - With the GTS (larger breaks) - if you are not tracking (and do not mind a bit more break dust) - the perceived benefit for normal street driving will be really un-noticed.
I am in the camp of going iron, due to the following. Not tracking (which even if you do, similar to many like me with a car they track - 720s) we mostly go to a hybrid or iron, due to the eye watering cost of replacing CCBs. If you do get damage on PCCBs on your porsche (Rock in the pad, etc.) which can/does happen - replacement is expensive.
I have replaced several 911s steel pads and rotors - You should be more like 4K for all four corners for pads and rotors (if needed) - not 9k. (dealers here in the midwest are not that much, and most indy's will do it for 4K and that is rotors and pads). Or DYI for a lot less.
Also, to consider is you will get some lack of responsiveness with CCBs in cold or rain on initial breaking until they are up to temp. This is not terrible or significant, but in certain conditions noticeable when driving.
For my 911s (Targa and coupes I have had) I have always opted for Steel. Usually around 30K with normal/fun street driving. Usually only pads are needed for the first few replacements as well. For my higher end cars (GT3 or other) I have gotten CCBs, but when tracking swap out for iron, as the cost is just not worth the slight benefit I get CCBs.

Three Wheelin'
It's funny, because I always here folks say 'if you don't track then you don't need PCCB'. Then I hear folks that track their cars that don't want PCCB because of the huge cost of replacement. So basically PCCB is for folks that don't care what it costs to have clean wheels or what it costs to track and replace brakes?!

No, haha. Just think its funny how differently everyone thinks about options and perceived value. No one needs a 911, for most the only purpose it serves is personal enjoyment. My advice would be get what will make you happy within your budget.

i had them on my 997tt 6mt that i bought second hand. the look of the rotors and the way they are put together is really cool to my eye.
almost specced them on my 992 just becuase i really like the look of them. then decided to pass because i only really see them when getting in or out of the car. so i spent my money primarily on functional or aesthetic items i use, see, and touch every day.

Currently 2 GT3 in my garage ....I have a winged GT3 with Iron and I will never owned another w/o the PCCB. The brake dust is pain in the A** to clean. So I recently bought another GT3 and this one is a Touring with PCCB
