Yea, sure, I'd like a hybrid 911. But, make it a Plug-In that'll get about 30-40 miles of range on electric only and that it supplements the current "S" engine's power when you want it to. This combination works beautifully on our BMW 4.5 Hybrid. It makes for a really nice around town, run the errands set-up. In combination with the turbocharged gasoline engine it can make the scenery move at a very nice pace. Not a real fan of what GM has done with the Corvette. The current Corvette e-ray version adds a lot of complication with minimal benefit IMHO.

An MHEV powering accessories and a little low end torque fill with an NA motor and manual transmission could be interesting.

Would not even consider it until: 1.) two-three years into production, 2.) researching and considering owner reviews and maintenance history and issues and then 3.) extensive test drive. So, maybe in 2027 or 2028….but not holding my breath. I will not spend $150k on something I know nothing about other than what has been reported in a very contradictory and confusing car magazine article. Ask me when I know what in the $@#! it really is?

I have a 45e and while it's nice, it's 5600lbs and drives like a boat. It's also 800lbs heavier than the regular x5. A heavy plug in hybrid with 40 miles of range is not something I'm going to look forward to in a sports car.

What is the point of hybrid in 911? It's already too big and too heavy. Will it drive better with more weight added again? Or they just follow the stupid trend?

And by "drive better" I mean - handling, not the 1-60 times from the papers.

A Taycan Turbo S can handle as well as a Carrera C2S

at 5200 lbs... Is that the target weight for the hybrid than ? Only 200lbs to go to Ford Expedition. To each it's own I guess, if 5200 lbs car can be considered great handling. I like my cars half that weight and thinking of used McLaren next

Have you ever tracked a Taycan? I have.

I ask because you drive a car, not numbers on a piece of paper.

My old E46 M3 drives "heavier" than the G87 M2, even though the M2 is up about 400 lbs on the M3. Why? Modern chassis tuning and tech, better brakes, suspension etc. all make the M2 feel lighter on its feet than the M3.

Numbers are nice, but the actual drive is more important.

I know exactly what you talking about as I also have M2 in my garage

Just saying I prefer all that modern chassis and tech in a lighter car. Because why not? Modern tech doesn't have to be 5200 lbs. And hybrid *always* means more weight. All those cars are already stupidly fast for the road anyway.

While as far as I know, nothing has been finalized, but have it on good authority that says the added battery will be quite small, with the weight gain only be 100-200 extra pounds, which will be very low on the car, thus moving the all important center of gravity downwards. Supposedly, re-charging will come from the turbo/exhaust.

For the record, a glass sunroof, and motor, on the 992 adds an extra 75+ lbs…and that weight sits on the top of the car.

Full EV’s, with large batteries that have >250+ mile range weigh 5,000+ lbs. The new 992.2 won’t be that. Not even close.

Yep. Never buy sports car with a sunroof. Everybody knows that.

YES.
I went from a Ferrari F8 V8 recently to a 6 cyl plug-in hybrid 296 GTB.
The GTB is extraordinarly fast and more responsive and planted.
Also, it's fun to drive in full EV mode.

Not everybody. See more with, than without. Then there are those that buy a cab, heavier still.

Interesting subject. I have heard 2 completely different projections on the upcoming 992.2. One SA at a local dealer is saying that the C Base, S, 4S and GT3 will be NA, while the GTS, Turbo and Turbo S will be Hybrid. Another SA in a different market said this: "The rumor of a 911 going hybrid is true BUT it will more than likely for Turbo S. The other rumor is the Base, S and GTS will have a naturally aspirated 4.0 and the turbos will go into the Turbo and Turbo S (E-hybrid). I'm thinking the 4.0 in the now terminated 718 GTS, GT4 and Spyder, will replace the 3 ltr twin turbo boxer 6. I was told the 992.2 will be a 2025 model year".

I am particularly intrigued with a NA 4.0 GTS model. That would be very cool. Since I purchased a 992.1 C4S Cab here recently, I have the luxury of pushing back my place in line for an allocation for a 992.2.

In keeping with the subject matter of this thread, I would never pre-order a hybrid 992.2 without driving it first which makes getting an allocation prior to release very difficult.
