Agate Gray Questions
Picked up an immaculate 2021 Agate Gray 992 S last week with only a bit over 5600 miles on it. I'm coming from a Meteor Gray 2008 Cayman S. I love the AG color, but it seems like it is going to be a bear to keep clean. Granted, the car has not been PPF's and ceramic coated yet. I have a couple of questions for Agate Gray owners:
1. Do you find it difficult to keep the car looking clean?
2. Does ceramic coating seem to help keep the grime off?
Love the car, but it always seems to have layer of dust visible on it...what am I missing?
Thanks!

Had AG on a Boxster and found that it was like MOST other darker colours as far as keeping clean looking (ie: similar to my current GB 992). Black is another story - looks great when clean which seems to only last minutes after cleaning. Ceramic coating will make help cleaning the car easier … a quick pressure wash can get most of the dirt off. IMO, it’s definitely worthwhile getting the wheels coated for this reason.

Congrats on the new ride! My 2022 Agate cab is easy to keep clean and hides dirt fairly well. The front bumper, hood, and quarter panels are PPF’d, but no professional ceramic coating. I use a pressure washer and foam cannon to wash, and a large microfiber towel to dry. Every 5-6 washes I’ll apply a coating of Turtlewax ceramic spray for added protection which does a good job of beading water and shedding dirt. Agate is a chameleon color; sometimes appearing dark grey, sometimes grey/bronze, sometimes grey/green depending on the light. I went back/forth between Agate and Adventurine Green and am happy Agate made the final spec list.

I have agate grey and ceramic coated. It’s not that hard to keep it looking clean. Being coated, a quick pressure wash is all that is needed, many times without even soap.

And once you finish with your PPF, etc, invest in a California Dust Mop

My previous P Car was Agate Grey....it was ceramic coated so wasn't too hard to keep clean. Easier than black or dark blue. I would get a color correction and ceramic coat and you should be good.

I have an agate grey 2023 S and it seems to always look clean. I do not see any issues with this color as far as looking clean.

This is kind of going to depend on where you live. In Southern California grays like this will often show that annoying layer of dust within a day of washing. I had the similar quartzite gray when I had a 2019 Cayenne and dust loved it.
That said I soon realized I was probably the only one noticing as standing back a few feet from the car, the gray hid the dust pretty well.

I too have a 2021 Agate Gray 992 that I purchase new in March 2021. I got the Ceramic Coating (applied by dealership to save time) but no PPF. I wash the car every week at a local Shell Gas Station BRUSHLESS Car Wash and wipe it down on my own with these Microfiber Towels:
I have had my car now for almost 3 years and it looks just as new as when I bought it. I do get it detailed once a year as well which helps...so doing this 1-4 times a year would help tremendously.
This is my daily driver and I have about 26,000 miles on it...it still looks brand new based on my routine so to answer your questions, yes very easy to keep clean/new as long as you stay consistent with your routine. And I definitely have noticed the ceramic coating helping tremendously.

Get it ceramic coated, wash regularly with PH neutral soap and a pressure washer. After every wash use a ceramic spray (I use C2V3) as a drying aid. I usually dry the car as much as I can with a battery operated leaf blower then spritz each panel with one spray of C2V3 and towel dry it.
Do not take the car into automatic car washes with brushes. Avoid touchless car washes as much as possible because they use highly alkaline soaps that will degrade your ceramic coating over time.
