I’ve searched the forums for an answer, but am not clear on this. Looking for winter wheels for 2020 911 4S and considering downsizing from standard 20/21 to 19/20. Car does not have PCCB or CL, but does have Rear Wheel Steering. Looking at sites to order wheels, they only mention PCCB as factor in sizing rims. Porsche tire specs have footnote that Rear Axle Steering is not compatible with 19/20 inch wheels. I’m concerned that rear axle steering may have clearance issues with smaller rims. Is anyone running this combo? Thanks in advance.
i have a 2023 4S with RAS running the 19/20 OEM winter set. per the invoice: part 992-044-600-A for the wheel/tire and 000-044-607-00 for the colored hub covers.
Really appreciate the feedback. Thank you all for the answers. We like the idea of “thicker” tires and less expensive wheel set for winter. And have been looking at Porsche 19/20 set at suncoast
I read this on page 250 of the owners manual and wasn’t sure if issue is performance related or clearance of mechanical parts. Looking at the current setup, it seems like there is plenty of clearance. I’ve highlighted the line below in picture of the page for reference.
BTW, I’ve never seen a car have as much information about tires in the owners manual as the Porsche does 😀 (
I have a 2020 4S Cab with RAS (without PCCB). I'm on my 4th winter with 19/20 and no issues.
The original owner's manual I received with the car "WKD 992 01 21 20" has the same page 250 as your picture, there are 264 total pages.
At my last service visit a few months ago I was given a new owner's manual "WKD 992 02 21 20" which grew to 316 total pages. The warning about 19/20 not working with RAS has been removed, see the picture from page 294 below.
Thanks a bunch. Like I mentioned earlier, I’d never read an owners manual with as much detail about tires, maybe the new edition has even more details?
We picked up the car in April and have driven about 4000 miles with no intention of stopping due to cold. It is making us nervous now that the temps are dropping below 32F/0C in Northeast. We’ll probably avoid the salt, but don’t want to park until spring. 19/20 seems like the right move.
Thanks everyone! 19/20's fit great, no issues with clearance (just as you all told us). We went with the 19/20 package from Suncoast and it came with Pirelli P-Zero Winter. Ready for colder weather.

my 2022 C4S with RAS does not have that warning in the manual, either (mine is over 330 pages). I am running after market 19/20s for winter.
What i had beem curious about for a while is how little clearance there is in the rear wheel from one of the lower control arms. I wonder if that being there is the cause for the warning earlier, and if they tweaked the configuration in later model years.

It looks like the lower control arm is close, but there seems to be sufficient clearance. The manual I was looking at is for 2020 C4S. Comparing rear suspension parts on 2020 and 2022 the part numbers for various components (e.g knuckle, lower cont arm, upper control arms, etc) are the same.
So far so good, it will be great to keep driving in colder months!
