As winter approaches, I will try and take my 911 out at least once a week for a drive. If the weather gets really bad I wonder if having a trickle charger is a good idea so the battery does not die. What do you recommend for a car that may only need intermittent charging during the next few months. Also, I have read that recent generations of the 911 have some sort of shut off on the 12V connector which may affect a charger. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Get this:
NOCO GENIUS1, 1A Smart Car Battery Charger, 6V and 12V Automotive Charger, Battery Maintainer, Trickle Charger, Float Charger and Desulfator for Motorcycle, ATV, Lithium and Deep Cycle Batteries https://a.co/d/aCuOA65
Direct attachment to your battery with this:

The smart guys avoid using the 12v outlet in passenger footwell to charge as it requires a complex sequence where ultimately the outlet shuts off and no longer charges the battery. Many of us run the pigtail through the plastic cowl so it’s still accessible in the event of complete battery discharge.

Well I guess this is why people new to Rennlist drop off the forum. What a jerk. Do you also own a Ferrari?
Which battery do you have ? Lithium or regular ? I am using the C-Tek Lithium US for the Lithium battery. C-Tek has a charger that will do both versions of the battery also. Porsche makes the same C-Tek dual charger but with the Porsche tax added to the price. You have options. Lots of great info when you dig a little deeper into previous threads and posts. Most suggest hard wiring to the battery/ground while some have had luck with the cig charger in the cabin.

Proper forum etiquette is to NOT make unnecessary and rude posts like this, especially to new forumers.
Give me a break, let people ask questions in peace around here. That is basically what this forum is for.
I got the Porsche charger myself, but I feel like it was a rip off. I also ran into issues with the 12 V socket sometimes shutting it down after 30 minutes.
If I could go back again, I'd buy a CTEK and just connect directly to the battery terminals.

The best is when the search ends up with a 100 page thread ...just spend hours perusing instead of just getting a concise reply that takes very little time.
Be careful about what you purchase. A Trickle Charger is not the same thing as a Battery Maintainer. Be absolutely certain that you use a Battery Maintainer!
.
I've had several of these over the past 5 years or so. One of them still works. Despite the appearance of the case, it's not particularly rugged, IMHO.
. Available from CostCo at a fairly reasonable price. I like it and prefer it to the Battery Tender (below) but only due to it's greater charging capability.
Will work with either "Normal" car batteries or with Lithium batteries.
. I've used these for decades on my motorcycles and my cars. A very low charge rate is it's only downside.
I ran over one (my Harley) and after straightening the metal case, it's still working just fine. (The Battery Tender, not the Harley, The Harley didn't even notice it.)
