I would rather see the EzPass tag than be a free ad for my dealership. This would be a good solution if it wasn't branded.

Took it apart and the chip is only 20% of the volume of the IL iPass. I tucked the contents above the passenger mirror. Worked fine in the targa, even on the skyway which I find particularly error prone.

If your solution works, then I wonder if you could just stick it up in the overhead above the rearview. In the space labeled 2.

Thats fine if you never leave your state…. Not every EZPass state has access to plate data. IL in particular warns their EZPass users that they do not share plate data with other states so you still need a tag if you go out of state.

Also, in Illinois, if they read your plate and not your transponder too many times in a month....1.) They will start charging you the cash price. (2x the ipass rate) 2.) After they get tired of charging you the cash rate they will start fining as well.

If you have an iPass account and register for Pay By Plate they won’t charge you the cash rate or fine you - for tolls in IL only. IL Pay by Plate only works in IL with an iPass account - it doesn’t work with an EZPass account in any other state.

You can buy it unbranded right from the source.

That solves the branding issue. But the plastic suction cups will be pretty visible. Probably not hard to find black suction cups for it.

The Amazon product, referenced earlier and which I had in my 991.2, uses black Velcro which keeps the tag pretty hidden from outside. Could mount using Velcro to the back of the rear view mirror as well, similar to the approach shogunade posted about. Although in that one, the tag exterior is stripped away making it smaller.

That's a great idea and think it would work. When I did the wiretap trying to snake the wire in the best way, I didn't find a lot of room in there. Also noticed there is a side that needs to face "UP" . Hard part, it's not easy to test and I do belive different toll stations haslve different sensitivity. My CL I mounted on top of the shade for the moonroof and I get IL warning at a few booths but not all.

Mines in my center console. I take it out and hold it when I need it. its too ugly to stick anywhere visible.

EZ Pass is under the mirror, I cannot see it at all except from outside the car.

That's just inefficient. Especially when blowing through the lane at 50.

Covered with a fake CF look-a-like and velcroed to dash. Blends well and ain't no big deal.

What material did you print that in? I've been concerned about putting anything made with PLA in the car because of the low melting point, and I don't have a safe space to print in ABS.
