Default Newbie here: T vs S

Hey everyone,

I wanted to get some opinions. Fortunate enough to be buying my first new Porsche. I thought I had my mind made up with a T. I’ve spoken to a dealer, submitted an order demand, and should be getting an allocation in October/ November looking at a Feb/ March (or a little later with PTS) delivery. The conundrum: I love the idea of a “special” car by way of a PTS Bahama Yellow build. I love the classic color paired with the classic ethos of an “enthusiast spec”. However. If I build out an S in an OTS color I really love after seeing at Werks this year, aventurine green, it’s within $3k.

So the big question. A PTS Bahama T or a Aventurine Green S. Will I miss the extra power in an S? This can always be bumped up with a tune.

Aventurine

Appreciate any input perspective! Thanks everyone

Can you get an allocation on the S? Those seem much harder to acquire.

Speaking with the dealer, it’s a possibly. I’m in no rush and can wait, which does help things a lot. The T is a go.

I believe Aventurine is discontinued and only available through PTS.
I bought the T and it's the only non-GT 911 I have interest in.

If I am not mistaken Aventurine Green will not be available for builds after October

It's not the power you'd miss from an S, it's the torque. Plus more flexibility with options. If neither are important then yes, get the T.

All 911s are enthusiast specs.

We submitted for PTS Bahama Yellow just a few weeks ago for a 2024 T. Per Porsche Cars North America PTS for 992s are completely sold out for MY24. Attached is the email from PCNA.

Edit: FYI, The above email from PCNA was received in mid August 2023. Our order was at V200 at the time of the PTS request with a freeze date not until October and production in November. There is a severe backlog for PTS. Hopefully this information is of help.

I am no expert but I think for an S which seem almost impossible to come by and if you do get one it will be a 992/2 model.
So I would stick with the T which will cease once the 992/1 production stops. IMO of course.

Hard to consider an Automatic C4 Cabriolet an enthusiast spec.

Interesting about the PTS. My dealer had not mentioned any issue other than a slightly longer lead time. I’ll have to chat with them tomorrow. Thanks for all the input everyone!

U.S. dealers do not know as PTS approval is purely at the discretion of Porsche AG. We were declined after it was under review for 11 days.
