Default Spontaneous Glass Spidering Anyone?

Spontaneous window glass spidering anyone?? WTF I walked out past car 10 mins prior and window was not like this. Ran uptown quickly and saw this the second I got home. There's no point of impact marks either. The glass in this car is Porsche's lightweight glass, obviously a problem. The car has been parked since yesterday afternoon. Sent messages to SA and Service Department, I'll keep you posted.

Seems to be par for the course with lightweight glass. I presume the window didn’t retract fast enough when opening or closing and caused too much flex.

The window hadn't been operated in nearly 24 hours.

Damn the LTW glass strikes again. Porsche has has given us some "innovations" lately that have been disappointing. LTW glass, LiPO4 battery, seat release strap, PDK no manual park override

@Scott P , do you mind sharing what year your car is?

Curious is it was manufactured before or after lightweight glass was removed and subsequently returned as an option for these cars...

If it was out in public, maybe someone tripped and bumped into the window with their elbow during those minutes it wasn't in your sight.

As I said, it was dormant for nearly 24 hours, didn't open a door, operate a window, nothing. I live in a very nice neighborhood, it was not hit intentionally or otherwise. There are no indications of a strike by anything. I've got 5400 miles on a car that was delivered 4/27/23.

Did you get the windows tinted?

Been back and forth on adding this for my T. Wondering if Tint could be contributing factor.

Defective lighttweight glass. Sorry it happened, they will replace it, one of the reasons I didn't spec it on my C2 but you had no choice with a T.

I also have the Lightweight Noise Reducing Glass option on my 2021 C2S. Last week at 15,000 miles and about 2 1/2 years in service, the Windshield cracked in three separate places. No impacts. The cracks do not connect to each other. Looks like Porsche will take care of this. BUT, FWIW a “regular” aftermarket Windshield installed by a National Automotive Glass franchise would have cost me ~$750. Just the Porsche Lightweight Noise Reducing Glass alone, not to include installation and recalibration of the electronics is well over $3,000. I do wish I’d not selected this option. This is crazy!

Not tinted just for the reason I'd heard it was a contributing factor.

Yeah, I'm not too freaked out about it but I had planned on trying to join @AdamIsAdam at the Glen today to run some laps.

I hope it's not a lengthy process to get the glass done. I'm happy it's not the windshield but I don't have HUD so it really in the end, wouldn't make things more difficult. I've got full glass, no deductible it'll just be a supply issue availability I'm sure.

At the suggestion of the service dept., I used track tape in/out of the window to prevent further spider proliferation. I won't be driving much as the glass shouldn't take too long to get here, they're working on it now.
