I also have the Lightweight Noise Reducing Glass option on my 2021 C2S. Last week at 15,000 miles and about 2 1/2 years in service, the Windshield cracked in three separate places. No impacts. The cracks do not connect to each other. Looks like Porsche will take care of this. BUT, FWIW a “regular” aftermarket Windshield installed by a National Automotive Glass franchise would have cost me ~$750. Just the Porsche Lightweight Noise Reducing Glass alone, not to include installation and recalibration of the electronics is well over $3,000. I do wish I’d not selected this option. This is crazy!

Happened to my in-laws Taycan, the whole back window shattered just driving down the street.

This makes me want to start pushing for a C2S allocation again, even though my T delivery is still 6 weeks away.

Lightweight Glass Panes Cracked – Identification and Possible Causes
I've heard from my service advisor that this is a known issue; he says the side quarter windows are especially prone to breaking if pressure is applied near the B-pillar.

This is so disappointing to hear about for you. Sounds like the dealer is taking care of you which is great.
I optioned this on my incoming Carrera S and was hoping for no long-term issues. I don’t recall seeing this problem in other threads on lightweight glass.
It is interesting that you didn’t have tint installed. I plan on adding tint on mine. I specifically asked my installer and they said they’ve done many cars with the lightweight glass and have never had an issue. I actually wonder if ceramic tint will help since it will keep the inside of the car cooler. I’ve had windows on other cars spontaneously shatter. Each time it was on hot Texas days. After the second one, I always kept the windows cracked open.

Hopefully they have it sorted for the 24’ model years, as you can’t spec regular glass on the Ts.

the LWG problem has been around at least 1 year as I read about it when ordering my S 8/2021 and ordered it anyway.

This has been an issue with lightweight glass for years. I had the same issue with my McLaren 600LT Spider and they replaced the windshield twice, seems like the supposed weight savings are just not worth if.

Regarding a tint over the LWG. If the glass cracks spontaneously well after a tint was performed, would it still be covered under warranty? I have a Carrera T and a tint is almost a necessity in FL.

EDIT: Just found out the replacement glass won't be here until at least August 7th.
