My only experience with a sudden glass failure was with my E39 BMW. Went to the car after work on a hot day and a big crack across the windshield. Apparently a tiny chip that grew. My E92 had a moonscape of similar chips, but none will grow into a crack ... go figure, cause I'd love to have really clear glass on the thing. Meanwhile, my 911 has two chips, no penetrations, and we'll see. For all of those with the special glass, I feel your pain. OBTW, Scott P, while I've driven sticks since 1965, the PDK is sublime.

My windshield: same thing. Woke up one morning and it was cracked. Dealer appointment in an hour and a half to determine warranty status. It's going to take about a month for me to get a new one. Brutal. This is a weight penalty I'd gladly take. Requested normal glass replacement and they said no.

I can't believe this happened, ridiculous mistake by someone. As much as my rear window was flexing last week on the NYS Thruway, I was wincing and praying all the way home from Alexandria Bay. Good luck.

I did, thanks. Won't take no for an answer on the warranty. It's ridiculous enough that we have to deal with the damage and the wait times. Asking to shell out $3k no top of that is adding insult to injury.

its being covered under warranty but I hate the fact the door panel has to come off .

So the service mgr, Mark, said he suspects the attachment points for the window were too tight. There's two mechanisms to attach the window at the bottom of it which are only able to be hand-tightened but apparently can still be done improperly.

Completely agree. My biggest issue is the wait times. I'm being told 3 weeks for the windshield, fingers crossed. Porsche needs to ship a crate of these over stateside and store in Atlanta or some other parts warehouse, since many of us are having this issue. I don't understand why such a fragile part is not being produced en-masse to minimize the downtime for us who have had it happen.

Yep. Same. A week to get it approved as a warranty issue and three weeks for the part. Hopefully you you don't have to drive 200mi each way for things like an inspection appointment.

Damn. Really sorry to hear. This the replaced and new window that cracked?

My T has been sitting in a parking lot in Leipzig since May. I wonder if any of the glass will be intact when I see it first in October 😅
