Default Dealer Joy Ride

Got my 992 back from the Porsche Dealer today, dashcam shows the tech having a little joyride. Engine cold, straight up to 82mph in a 35. Followed by some more bursts up to 80 in a 30.

Ive left a message for the service department but wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or advice?

I wait for the engine to come up to temp before stepping on it. I’m pretty angry.

I am sure they will respond to you as they do not want the negative publicity.

This with a twist. I would bring he video in and and show it to the SM and GM - and the owner of there is a local one - and give them a chance to react. They may be (almost) as pissed off as you are and may try to make it right by you. It is really hard to get decent employees these days and I would allow for that and give the upper level guys a fair chance to show me what good customer service is. I always (at least try to) give someone a chance to do the right thing before I go overboard with threats and such.

I went for dinner last night and my wife found a decent sized bug in her water. She called the closest person over - it happened to be one of the managers - and they were horrified. Immediately replaced all four waters (which were good old NYC tap) with two large bottles of Pellegrino. When the bill came, not only had they taken off our desserts and coffees, but also all 4 of our cocktails. We actually told him it was too much but he insisted. So what could have detracted from our dinner actually turned it into a very nice experience. Sometimes **** happens that is beyond one's control. For me, the measure is not the **** but their reaction and response to it.

So, I say give them a chance. Hopefully the joyrider gets fired and they do somethign right to accommodate you. If not, there is plenty of time to go on the offensive and then you actually have a better arsenal because you have the event and the failed response.

It's not the speed that matters so much as the RPMs, nothing wrong with going 80 with a cold engine as long as you don't WOT it or rev over 4k or so. Speeding is another issue and seems in very poor judgement .

I would bring the video in to the service manager and all service advisors and just hit play. It’s just reckless.

The problem is that the people selling and servicing these cars cannot afford to drive one.

That’s exactly what he did 😔. What would you do in that situation?

Stick the video on YouTube and email them the link. They won’t do it again

You can always post a video on YouTube and reference your experience on Yelp that might get their attention.

I brought my C2S into the dealer for a PCM update. Noticed they did a short joyride and unplugged the dashcam. Fortunately traffic conditions late in the afternoon on a Friday probably prevented the highspeed joyride the tech was planning. Next time I bring my car in I’ll explicitly state I do not want a check ride after service.

quality assurance problem resulting from training problems

porsche should do a better job training people on what quality assurance actually means

It's stupid and infuriating, but probably did no damage.

Some sales people make $300k a year. A good many over $200k. Just saying.

Another reason to buy a Quick Jack and DIY your own maintenance.
