GTS 7MT - Cost Advantage?

On the C2S if you choose the 7MT, you get the Sport Chrono included, presumably because the 7MT is a lower cost option vs. the PDK. On the GTS, it appears to come with the sport chrono, and if you move from the PDK to the MT, there no "bonus" like there is on the "S" model where you get the chrono, a $2800 or so option. Am I missing something? Comparing S and GTS trims (since GTS comes with a few standard features, lower costs for some of the options) and am trying to make sure i'm doing a fair comparison.

The bigger question is what car can you actually get an allocation for.

Most US C2S builds are ordered with the Sport Package which includes Sport Chrono at a discount. The Sport Package is slightly cheaper for 7MT cars..

I guess my question is more on the GTS (which comes with a few more standard bells and whistles). If you take the 7MT option, it's just an even swap from the PDK. On the S, there's a $2800 disadvantage to taking the PDK since you still have to add the Chrono.

Yeah... that's typical strategy for all GTS models.. basically for the price differential of the GTS you get a lot of 'bundled' performance-related options that are normally 'a-l-carte' for 'lesser' models....

My question is that on the S there's a cost advantage to going 7MT, you get Sport Chrono for free. On the GTS there's no cost advantage, even swap between 7MT and PDK. Is that correct?

Yes. On the GTS, get the transmission you want and there is no benefit or penalty from a cost perspective.

Came from few GT3s, still got one; super impressed with a 992 4GTS MT.

Probably a cost disadvantage to the manual. Manual clutches wear out and need replacing, whereas the liquid cooled clutches of the PDK do not. Electronic control keeps PDK clutches from overheating. They last the life of the car, unless defective. And the PDK cars are faster.

you’ll put 150K on a manual clutch before it wears out…unless you’re a terrible driver.
A GTS also comes with an upgraded clutch disc to handle the additional torque.

Does anyone actually include cost as a consideration when choosing between the 7MT & the PDK for their 911 build? No.

My Targa GTS is MT. I’ll happily give up a few silly tenths to 60 (yawn) for the increased fun and engagement of the MT. Auto transmissions are for big GT cars, not sports cars.

Anybody choosing the PDK because it’s “faster” is a deluded idiot.
The 911 is not a fast car. You need to accept that even in your so called faster PDK you will be left for dead by an old lady in a Tesla.
The 911 is about the thrill of the driving experience and that comes with the MT. If you want an auto that’s quick off the line and dusts everything from the lights then you bought the wrong car. Trade your 911 for a Tesla Plaid.
