Default Possble to changed to lightweight buckets from sport seats

I bought a GTS and will have it in 2 weeks. Pretty much a track spec car. except for seats.

If I decide to track the car, can the driver and passenger seats be upgraded to the Porsche lightweight buckets, it has the 4-way sport seats now.

I don't want to be drilling holes but if could bolt in that might be a plan.

Also would other seats (5 point harness capable) be better / cheaper ?.

Thanks in advance

PS did a search on this and found nothing....

I have a T arriving in three weeks. I wanted buckets but there was a stop sale on my freeze date so I'm stuck with sofas. Yesterday I asked my SA if he could source buckets now that the stop sale is lifted and he mentioned that the most expensive part would be the install. Specifically, wiring that requires PIWIS. Considering the seats are $6k as an option, likely $10k as an add-on, I don't even want to know. You may be better off getting some Pole Positions and swapping back and forth, though I don't know if the rails would require drilling.

FWIW, the 4-ways are not much heavier than buckets but I don't know how well they can hold you in place.

I believe the 4-ways are not capable of 5 point harnesses ?

This isn't about weight, its about 5 point harnesses. If I could use a 5 point on the existing sport seats might be good enough.

Given availability constraints for the LWB's and the prices I've heard bandied about, possibly better to look at a pair of Recaros or similar? I've not fitted any to my Porsches but have to other cars without issue.

Those LWBs sell for about 12-14k from what I have seen. I can’t imagine they use completely different mounting holes on a mass produced vehicle.

Same mounting would be great.

If the Porsche LWB are unobtainium.... Are there recommendations on quality buckets with 5 point harness capability ( Recaro et al. ) ???

I can confirm that I contacted the Parts Department at my dealer and they do use completely different track system and mounting points for the LWB vs. 4-way and 18-way seats. To swap out the LWB I asked what this would entail and they said you would need buy a new rail system and the seats, all of which are on back order, and the total cost to do the switch would likely be close to the $16-18K mark

Someone put some recaros in their 911 and posted about it on here somewhere. They looked great and were a fraction of the price of OEM. I can’t remember the model, maybe try searching for recaro and see if you can track down the post.

Not nearly as much padding but Recaro podium cf gets my vote and at a fraction of the cost. Well worth bolting holes if need be.

This collaborates exactly what my SA said, except yours probably carries more weight coming directly from parts.

I'd go Recaro Sportster. I think it will suit the car the best.

I have a feeling that you will not be able to source these aftermarket from Porsche. If you are buying used, the market price is probably astronomical.

You'd lose less money by selling your car and buying one with the seats you want.

That may be true but its a bit moot since he can't buy one with the seats he wants.

The LWB’s sourced from Germany come with the necessary rails to mount to the existing mount points.
