So why can't you just change the filter early since it is top mount and top off the oil if necessary?
FWIW I have before and will change this one every 5k as it makes me feel good.

The goal is to avoid overloading the oil filter so it can continue to filter contaminants out of the circulating oil. The goal is to always have clean oil. You could accomplish that by 1)replacing the filter with a new one, 2)replacing the oil with new oil, or 3)both 1+2

My plan is to go in around month 10 when I expect to have about 4-5k and get it covered as my first year’s service. Seems like a good compromise to me! 1k seems overkill and 10k may not be a great idea for long term (although Porsche seems fine with it).

The included oil change is 1 year from the "in service" date. My car sat for 6 months before I got it. I never got a good explanation as to why. I asked my dealership to do an oil change based on the "born on" date when my car was built, and they agreed to do an oil change at the time of my choosing without fuss. I had them do it after break in.

If you think changing the engine oil at 1k helps for break in reasons then you should also change the diff/transmission fluids based on the same logic.
Much like the break in thread going right now though, it really won’t make a difference for the vast majority of owners. Almost all failures occur due to manufacturing defects and changing fluids obviously won’t stop that. If you are track rat, they change their fluids often anyway and it is a different conversation than how most owners use their cars.
