992 Paddle Shifter with same feel and sound as GT3RS
Today, I installed a must-have mod, at least in my view. Let me start by saying I am not a big paddle shifter person; I only use them every once in a while. I have been wanting GT3RS paddle shifters, not for their looks, but for the metal clicking feeling and sound. I had two options: buy an entire steering wheel for $5k or just the paddles for $2,500. Neither option was reasonable, even with the Porsche tax. So, I looked everywhere and finally found JQ Werks & Madtrace® Clubsport Magnetic Paddle Shifters at the link below. They are reasonably priced and good-looking since they match the carbon fiber in my car, and many BMW owners swear by them. I asked fellow Porsche enthusiasts, and no one seemed to have installed them in their 992, so I took the plunge and ordered two: one for my 992, and my son talked me into ordering one for his M2. Today, I installed mine; the process is outlined below with pictures. Before you tell me why I didn't use the larger paddles, refer back to my second sentence in this post. So, for me, the smaller ones are perfect. I drove the car, and the paddles are very crisp and sturdy, feel great, and sound just like the ones I have seen in GT3RS videos.
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Get a small hex key and insert it in the two holes on the side of the steering wheel. I will link a video that shows how to accomplish this step.
3. Once the airbag is out of its spot, get a flathead screwdriver and gently pry the back, then pull the plugs out. They are color-coded yellow and brown, so they will go back in the same spot.
4. Undo the clip on the top of the steering wheel and pull it out gently.
5. At the 8 o'clock position, there is a red plug; gently pull it out.
6. You will need a triple square 12mm to undo the steering wheel nut.
7. Look closely at the alignment between the wheel and the column itself; there is a notch – pay close attention to where it is.
8. Pull the wheel out.
9. On the back, there is a screw holding the stock paddle shifters.
10. Use the appropriate Torx to remove them.
11. Unplug the old paddles.
12. There is a small rubber gasket on the bottom of the stock paddle; you need to pull it off.
13. These gaskets will not fit on the new shifters, so seat them in their place and carefully slide the new shifters on top of these gaskets.
14. Tighten the new paddles using the screws from the stock ones.
15. Reverse the process, and voilà, you are in business.

I have been using this mod for a few days now and love it. The sound and feel of using the new paddles are amazing. I uploaded a video to the original post, which does not do it justice but gives you an idea of what to expect. The shifts are very crisp and instantaneous. I know that the stock pedals are too, but with the click and sound of the new paddles, you know exactly when it will shift. The stock ones are a bit soft in comparison. I like the sound and feel of these new paddles. I highly recommend them; they are easy to install and are reasonably priced compared to other options.

Does it make a click sound like when they shift on The Fast and the Furious?

Paints inside no? Can’t imagine it would rub off
Did these come with two sets of paddles? Seems JQ site lists contents as one pair, but don’t see an option for length.
edit: re two set of paddles your 911 and son’s M2…I get it.
agreed price seems reasonable. Thanks for the great write up!
