Default Northern Chicagoland Dealership - New to the brand

Hello guys!

I am totally new to the Porsche brand, however, I've on a few BMWs and a couple of old JDMs. But I am now looking to enter the brand with a 992. I am potentially looking at a C2S, C4S or a GTS. I however, do not know the detailed nuances between the three. I know these cars are in high demand and I am in no desire to pay over MSRP. I am requesting your help if you can help identify any literature so I can expand my understand and if you can point me to your trusted sales person at a Chicagoland dealer. My initial thought is get a better understanding of these cars and cross compare with maybe a MB GT and move forward to request an allocation for delivery in 2025.

Please be kind - hopefully I am not making a fool of myself.

TIA

Your question is very general. What are you looking at? Drivewise? Feeling of the car? Interior and exterior options? Also what is important is what kind of driver you are and what you find important in a car. If you elaborate a little bit more we can surely help you out more.

Anthony at Downtown Chicago Porsche is awesome, will always recommend getting in touch with him and the dealership in general.

Chicago stealerships are not competitive. If there's no trade in for tax purposes, I would buy out of state.

Google is your best friend to learn about these cars. Put in useful phrases like 992 C2S vs. GTS, C2 vs C2S or just go on the Porsche configurator and look up the models.

BTW what does JDM stand for?

Yes, no trade ins. I would ideally like to buy it at best price irrespective of dealership location. What is typically percent off MSRP that we can see on C2S or C4S, I know GTS is probably going to be more competitive

Will do my research and circle back on popular options. JDM = Japanese imports. I've had 2001 Honda S2000, Evo X, Nissan GTR for a brief period .

There are a number of threads here comparing the various trims (C2S/C4S/GTS) and many, many differing opinions.

With the usual YMMV caveat, I have had great experiences with Napleton Westmont Porsche. I had purchased several 997 911s and Cayennes. I strayed for a few years with the Audi R8 v10 plus, but am back on a list for a C4GTS4 at Napleton.

In the past, it was pretty routine to get a 2-6% discount off MSRP even with ordered vehicles and Napleton was competitive with my previous 997 TTS purchase. But, those days are long gone. At this point, competitive is MSRP IMO.

I’ve only had a great experience at Napleton both with sales and service.

Welcome!

As another poster mentioned, MSRP is the best you will be able to do. There are significant waitlists for most/all 992 models, in some cases on the verge of impossibility.

Of the three models you mentioned, the GTS will likely be the hardest to get, but the other two are very likely 1 year+ in wait.

They are amazing vehicles, but understandable if you cannot wait. There is a robust used market, but prices have risen so much that new looks better in comparison.

Do you have the name of the sales person?

Am I the only one that feels like this is an AI chatbot?
