I have a Base about to be delivered, hopefully in the next 2 days. Makes me wonder 5-10+ years down the road how rare the 992.1 Base will be on the used market since so few of them seem to be being built.
I got on the list for a base Carrera. I was quoted 18 months at MSRP. My wife and I have bought six Porsches from this dealer over about 16 years. That long a wait and it will likely be a 992.2, which is fine.
Just for context I finally got my C2 after ordering it 7 months ago, and it's fantastic. As a daily it's all the power I need and the ride is quite civilized. I had a GT4 so I know what fast feels like and the C2 is plenty fast. Somewhat biased opinion, it's the sweet spot of the 992 range as a daily.

Was told by GM of my dealer that my 2024 C2 S cab allocation for June build was his last for the year. 2024 will be a very short production year. the 2025 models will start production sooner than normal. I think the 2024 model year is just an extension of the 2023 992.1 model and what will be the 2025 992.2 was supposed to be the 2024 spec. but supply chain issues delayed implementation.
Strange picked up new 992 10 months ago. SA leaves me a message this morning, sir we have an allocation. Please call to place your order or we will return your 2k deposit. I guess thinks are opening up.
It did not look like I would get a base C2 allocation for two years so I traded in my GT4 on a CPO 2022 C2 with 1000 miles on it. It is not everything I would have ordered but I am slowly making it more of the car I wanted through modifications. If you can find a good CPO it might be worth it to you, I wanted the car now, not in two years.
While I was quoted 18 months, I do wonder with the large price increase ~9%, that the wait lists will show more drops. I did express an interest in a base 992.2 and would make the go or no go when an allocation came. My dealer is very good on communication and their projected allocations. Relationship means a lot for them.

You could have achieved the same result with more certainty by agreeing to a 9% ADM.

Makes sense...similar to the changeover from 991.1 to .2....991.2 production started sometime early 16 as a 17 MY. 992.2 production may start early spring of 24 as 25 MY.
I was on the fence about the impending recession but it’s coming. I work in Pharma and we’re seeing layoffs across the board, similar to tech. P-Car demand will taper off in a year or two and we’ll see 911s at MSRP or even discounted for models like Base Convertibles with readily available allocations.
"Fed Chair Jerome Powell says he and his colleagues are trying to stabilize a job market that is "unsustainably hot." Wages have been rising at a fast clip in an economy where the unemployment rate is at 3.6%, which is very close to its pre-pandemic low."You have two job vacancies essentially for every person actively seeking a job, and that has led to a real imbalance in wage negotiating," Powell said when answering questions at a press conference two weeks ago.
The Fed chair is aware of the pain that will be inflicted on more people as he wrestles with inflation and tries to tame it.
"We don't seek to put people out of work," he said. "But we also think that you really cannot have the kind of labor market we want without price stability.""
For those of you who are unable to decipher Federal Reserve double speak, the section in bold is the real message Jerome "I hate poor people" Powell is conveying here.
