We have quite a few raffles here for a massive house and all sorts of other prizes that go to the children's hospital. All major prizes, homes, cars, boats, included cash to pay off the taxes so you don't have to sell it. I believe the home winner has still sold the home as well every year.

It's free in Canada. Even if we win in the US. No taxes on winnings.

Rates dropped nine percent from 2009 to 2010 alone, reaching a historic low of 34.3 births per 1000 women aged 15-19. Considering that 16 and Pregnant premiered in the summer of 2009, it’s tempting to wonder whether the show is in some way responsible.

Good to hear…but was it sustained from 2009-2010?
I also read that “the rates fluctuate wildly by region, from a low of 19.8 per 1,000 in New Hampshire to 65.7 per 1,000 in Mississippi.” Absolutely NOT surprised at this…with education, and counseling being important factors (as well as other) at reducing teen pregnancy.

In the UK, where Scotland is, there is no tax on the lottery winnings. Not sure if that applies to a private lottery.
