As context for my post, I have a modest collection of Porsches. Lots of cars have come and gone, including a lovely CGT. I've owned 5 different GT cars, most recently a GT3RS. I used to be infatuated with track driving, but now days I spend most of my leisure drives in the canyons that are near my home.
I unexpectedly had the opportunity to buy a 400 mile 992 GTS that was optioned to my taste; Manual, PCCBs, LWB, rear seat delete, etc. I had never paid much attention to the GTS, but having driven it now for 2000 miles, I couldn't be more delighted. I'm a big fan of torque, and the difference between the NA GT3 cars and the turbo GTS is astounding. Moreover, I get the perfect 7 speed manual, which I much prefer to the PDK.
Bottom line, after driving the GTS? I feel like I found a very special car in a place I wasn't even looking. Yes, I've owned a GT3 with a manual transmission, and I much prefer the torque of the GTS. I've read a couple of guys comment that you get a GTS when you can't have a GT3. Having owned both, I'd say unless you're primary usage is cars and coffee (or perhaps you are a devoted track rat) the GTS is a better driver's car than the GT3 and GT3RS. If I was forced to have only one sports car for the drives I take, it wouldn't be a GT3.
9k RPM is awesome… especially when you are some place that you can use it. That being said, NA is highly overrated. Some people talk about turbos like they’re some kind of deal-breaker — they have no idea what they’re talking about.
Enjoy the GTS!

Exactly how I feel; having had only 3 GT3 before. Just installed JCR non silenced catless exhaust with M-engineering stage 2 on a manual 992 4GTS and drives/sounds crazy good. I really don’t miss the GT3’s.

Amen...in all the time I've owned an NA GT car, I can't remember a time that I consistently drove it between 6-9k RPM, which is where it has the razor sharp throttle response. I simply don't enjoy feeling like I'm wringing the poor car's neck all the time. Yes, I know its designed for it, but how many redline shifts can one enjoy on the way to cars and coffee? I'm sure Porsche laughs all the way to bank with all of its "track cars" that will never, ever come near a race track. Moreover, I've never felt like a needed 9k RPM in the canyon. Gimme that 3k punch all day long.
Congrats on your new acquisition and nice garage. Lovely Arena Turbo.

Sadly, too much of that nonsense on the 992 forum. I have a 992T incoming and I've seen people go in T specific threads to post about how their GTS or TTS is superior. I remember a time when you choices for 911 were Carrera, Turbo or RS. Now we have a large spectrum of variants to fit everyone's desires and people use it to display their insecurities and ignorance.

I have had 2 GT3 manuals and sold them both, I could have gotten another but ordered a manual Targa GTS instead. I agree with your take on choosing one over another.

Yep. Lots of posers and wanna bees on this public, free forum. Could be weeded out with pay to play but that’s not a money maker for site owners.
Had a 991.2 GT3 and now a ‘23 GTS both with PDK. I’m a little torn as I love the mid range thrust of the turbo mill but that 9k masterpiece was electric and I used it a lot around town and at the track.
The GTS is probably a better “overall” car and I love the back seats for my two young boys to take for drives and with similar tires and an alignment I like my chances at the track compared to 991 GT3’s, but……I’m a sucker for that damn near race engine in the GT3.
I haven’t tracked the GTS yet. I may fall in love with it yet.
