Best Track GTS Spec

20/20 is the smallest combo you can run on a GTS. The front brakes are massive, they won't clear 19s. Tire choice is pretty limited. I think Cups are available for the 20/21 stock size though. That said the N-spec PS4S is a pretty darn good.

These cars aren't track cars, they are slow and heavy. You can have some fun but don't expect too much. If you really enjoy tracking get a dedicated car that is properly outfitted for performance and safety.

They're great HPDE cars. We get it, you have a race car. Thanks for sharing.

You can spec a car as much as you like for the track, it dosnt matter if you can’t drive it.
I have seen some very tidy cars destroyed in the track by lesser cars, all because the driver is full of themselves.
as we say in the UK, all the gear and no idea.

@Bhaha Porsche IMHO the answer to ‘which GTS spec is best for the track is… ‘none’. Here’s my logic:
- If you are a track newbie, you’ll learn nothing in this car if your ultimate goal is to actually learn to ‘race’. At HPDE events sure you’ll be ‘faster’ than almost anyone in the ‘green' group, but that’s mostly due the car’s inherent HP advantage, not your skills.
- If you are already a seasoned driver in HPDE black or red group, you’ll likely be up against instructors in stripped out trailered cars, where no number of lightweight / Weissach options will make up for the weight difference.
- If you are actually planning to wheel-to-wheel ‘race’, well this is just not your car unless you strip it build it properly as previously mentioned discussed by others.
- If you are just an occasional HPDE driver (like me) who only wants to infrequently exercise the limits of your machine in a safe and legal environment, then *any* 911 will do since you are ‘only racing yourself’, not others. Also your limited skills will again mute any effects of lightweight packages
In general, if I were to pick *one* ‘lightweight’ option that changes any car most to a track oriented spec it would be the LWBs (with proper harnesses), although I don’t have them on my build because for my limited track needs the trade-off in daily utility is too great. And don’t get them for the perceived weight advantage - get them because (like any racing seat) you will be more firmly attached to the car to better perceive the car’s rotation, transitioning, etc.
Good luck with your build.

But then again what's the point of getting buckets and 5 points unless you get a roll bar and harness mounts? Then with out a fire extinguisher or fuel cut off? The slippery slope is endless

Wow! Beautiful. Love the wing. Looks a bit like an old GT3?
What's the color? Inside it looks black, but outside - Gential Blue?
Looks a lot like my build...

Been digging in on the tire comment and this is an issue. What wheel and tire combos have some of you found that work for the track? I agree the PS4S is a great tire. My thought was I’d likely use the PS4S for days that are generally more damp. But would like something like a Cup 2 or R-Compound as a dedicated track tire mounted to dedicated rims.
Center-Locks or 5-Lug ideas. My build
is yet to get scheduled so still in the waiting and research phase.
Thanks in advance!

We all know that a dedicated track car or race car is going to be the best, question was how can you build a GTS from the configurator that is the best 911 non GT variant for the track.
IMO; no extra motors;
* fix rear wing (aero kit)
* no axle lift
* no auto folding mirrors
* no adjustable seats, get the LWB deletes rear seats
* no RAS
* no sunroof
no power steering plus
CL wheels (lightest)
MT
Add PORSCHE decal to rear wing!!!
All the above could make it the lightest variant.

adding 50 hp to a car is supposed to be the equivalent to 1 second on a ~3 mile track. Cutting 100lbs also about 1 second. The 992 turbo S is 25 seconds per lap faster than the 997.1 turbo at VIR as measured by Car & Driver's Lightning Lap. Given that the 992 version didn't gain 1250hp nor lose 2500 lbs from the 997, the difference has to be suspension and tires. I'm thinking that the RAS has a significant impact on lap time reduction, and I would suggest keeping that option
