Buckets are the only option that will add significantly to the track experience. After that only two things matter for going fast on track driver skill, and tires. A GT3 is not on as high of a pedestal as you think except for the engine note, and there’s nothing you can do about that.

Loosely translated: Learn to be a better (more competent) driver. I’ve seen a lot of “lesser cars”, driven by drivers that knew how to get the most out of their car, vanquish cars with far more impressive specs.
Yep, similar in the road biking world, where people obsess over grams of weight, and the aero qualities of wheels, but there's always going to be hyper fit kid crushing you on the hills on his bike that cost half the price of your wheels. Within reason, talent beats equipment any day of the week.

You got it backwards: GT3 Tourings are just poser Carrera T’s. If you want to pose as a base, just get a base. And don’t forget about those Turbo S losers their “active aero” trying to be like the GT3RS…turds

That's how I would spec a 992 GTS for dual use (street and track) with a strong bias towards track performance:

Only one option really:
  • Lightweight package (which includes LWBS, rear seat delete, LW and noise insulated glass, RAS, lightweight battery, reduced sound deadening and enhanced aero)

The ones to avoid
  • No sunroof, or go for CF roof for lightest possible trim
  • No PCCB (too costly for regular track use and the iron brake from the turbo are more than enough with suitable track pads)
  • No FAL (avoid the extra weight of the hydraulic system)
  • No PDCC (avoid the extra weight of the hydraulic system, more direct chassis feedback)
  • No aero kit (no demonstrated aero advantage)
  • None of driver assistance systems (only adds weight)
  • None of the wheel option, keep center lock wheels as they are the lightest and stiffest option)
  • Keep standard Sport-PASM suspension (the stiffer turbo derived Sport-PASM is quite well tuned for track work)
The rest is really all about personal preference including PDK vs MT.

Debate for this thread - what is the best way to spec a GTS for performance on track! Specifically, would you take the lightweight package or the aerokit as those two conflicts (can't spec both).

Options:
1. Lightweight package: Bucket seats, RAS, Lithium battery, lightweight Glass, reduced sound deadening, GTS aerodynamics, etc.)
2. Lightweight glass + RAS + aerokit

I took out the PCCB and PDCC as those are not available. PCCB would be no-brainer, PDCC is another debate.
I went with:
Lightweight buckets, lightweight glass, RAS, lithium battery and aerokit.
I added:
Giro disc brakes, Ferodo pads, Bilstein coil overs, Goodyear Supercar 3 R tires, Cantrell Motorsports roll bar, and Schroth 6 point harness.
Couldn't get a GT3 allocation. Poseur, perhaps, however I can tell you that it's much faster than my old 2015 GT3 and at least as fast as my previous 2019 GT3. Great car!

None of this matters as of now, because all of those options are V100 Stop Build... I'm not happy about that, but I have to get creative now with my allocation probably if the aerokit/LWB/lightweight packages don't return.

I realize there aren’t any actual downforce numbers published by Porsche, and to my knowledge there hasn’t been a back to back lap time of aero vs. non-aero, but do you question Porsche’s claim that it does increase downforce?

Great info; amazing to hear how these cars progress generation to generation, the fact that a 992 GTS is quicker than a 991 gen GT3 is amazing.

I just went with the fact that nothing is mentioned in the configurator, and usually when no numbers are specified, it is because it is not really meaningful. Even the text in the Aerokit press release is quite vague in that respect. But I could be mistaken.

To be honest, get the aerokit if you like the look. If not, don't get it.

Don't make the decision on the aerokit based on track performance...

What you should not do is get an aftermarket GT3 wing on your GTS and drive that on the track. That wing has real downforce and you will be lacking the downforce at the front of the car and get yourself in quick trouble.

Important question:

Does anyone know if the reduced sound deadening from the lightweight package comes with the lightweight bucket seats?

Options for least weight; PCCB is great, but replacement is spendy. Options for best handling, PDCC nice but ... I don't think the aero kit does anything significant.
