It's not my fault they were running such tight margins. Maybe don't pay the CEO 13million and tighten down on fraud. Insurance exists for a reason and when things happen they are just like oh crap we spent all the money we made so gotta jack up the rates (which will never go back down)

I dropped USAA insurance for my home and auto and switched to Amica after being with USAA for 20 years. Their customer service has been amazing and they are rated as good or better than USAA. I got tired of USAA rasing their rates so they can pay for TV commercials--WTF! I still bank with them though but no loans or insurance.

Hi, reviving this older thread to ask about USAA's "Car Replacement Assistance" coverage, which pages you an additional 20% of the ACV if car is declared a total loss.
Thoughts on this? Maybe 20% not enough? For ref, I have a 2022 2SMT cabriolet.
Thanks.

And btw, I'm with USAA currently and yes it feels like their rates have gone up a lot. I'm in MD and I'm paying $941 every 6 months. This includes the Car Replacement Assistance coverage for @ $95/6 months and a $1000 deductible.
Maybe I need to shop around? I recall I did long ago in my BMW days and could not beat USAA when bundled with home, umbrella, etc.
Thanks.

Yes shop around they are not like they use to be. I have not had USAA beat others in a long time. I am currently with Erie. I have home, auto, and umbrella with them.

Only thing to consider about USAA is that if you ever have a claim they pay fast and they are very easy to deal with. Sometimes having the cheapest is not always the best if the company you are paying for doesn’t have your back when you need them. I have 20% replacement on all of my cars.

I'm wondering if anyone in a california city has any comps. I was just quoted 3200 for a C2S, estimated 3k miles a year. This would be our second car with the insurer. 100k per person bodily, property, 300k per incident. Same coverage for uninsured motorists. Rental car coverage too. This was progressive. Thanks for any info.

I'm in the bay area and with progressive too. I've a '22 X3 M40i and my '24 GTS on it, $1800/6 months with $500,000 combined single limit each for Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability and Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist. Rental is $50 each for 30 days and a $500 deductible for collision and comprehensive.
My driving history in USA is limited to under 3 years and CA apparently doesn't take past overseas driving history into account!

After 3 years, I'm still trying to come to terms with how insurance is structured in this country.
The whole liability limits, separate collision and comprehensive deductibles and even separate limits (or at least opt ins for) uninsured driver coverage is a very American thing.
In UK and Australia we only have a single comprehensive insurance policy that has a single deductible and covers you for the lot, including all medical, uninsured driver and liability.

I have been with AMICA for 35 years - historically one of the highest rated Ins companies by Consumer reports. Cost to insure my 2024 Cab S, fully loaded MSRP north of $165K, ~$1,050 for six months. For comparison, I am a PA resident, have an excellent driving record with no auto claims in more than 10 years and drive less than 5,000/miles/years. When I did have a claim many years ago, they were excellent at resolving it.
