Default 2023 C2 Soul Cats and Akropovic exhaust

I purchased the new soul cats from John and combine with akropovic exhaust. I remember a post from @bigswole I think where he said cold start was 12/10. It is quite loud and glorious. No CEL and ~150 miles last night after install.

Install was 3/10 and took about 4 hours going nice and slow. Hardest part as @4rings has said is the V clamp on stock cats. Trick is WD-40 night before and a 10” vice clamp on the flat rectangular tip of the bolt. Once you drop the cats a smidge open end 22mm wrench in O2 sensor and you are golden.

Of course I had to try without removing the bumper cover even though I was told it wasn’t possible. Shocker it is not. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Battery operated ratchet makes things go faster. Etorx is the “fanciest” tool you need other than standard torx and hex bits.

I removed the wheels as that’s easy enough but you could probably do it without. Three screws under with wheel well cover. I did have separate magnetic pans for each major section just to keep things easy.

Valve controller transfers over easy. Just get the spring right and the butterfly’s should be open. Confirm by looking at your current PSE.

other than that no surprises. I’m terrible at documenting pictures but here are a few and a short cold start video.

Is the video there and I'm missing it, or are you only teasing us? I'm on the hunt for a new exhaust set up; watched more videos than I care to count, but always come back to the Arka. Can't wait to hear her.

Thanks for the write up. Getting a not found error for the link. Question: the fabspeed video and another (can't remember which) shows install of the akropovic and cats being installed with the bumper in place. What changed? Also, where are you located? 😁 PS. Way to utilize the wall rack!

Hmmmm

If you are doing the tips bumper cover has to come off. Cats are easy and don’t require that. Once you fix the v clamps they are way easy. I don’t know about the other persons install but I could not pivot out the PSE without the valve controllers hitting. I thought I’d done it before on the soul valved exhaust but maybe I did not. The Akra could easily go in by its self with no tips I suppose if you had a standard exhaust?

I am in the Fort Worth Dallas metroplex.

Now I see why you asked about the butterfly valves, DIY @ home, nice!

Glad to see everything worked out smoothly and everything flows together nicely.

Thanks again for the purchase!

I did mean you @BIGWORM

as he said it is loud. The video doesn’t do it justice. I warned my neighbor and she said well I’ll know when you leave.

under throttle it reminded my of my 991.1 turbo with the sharkwerkz pipes. It sounds great.

Had to shrink the file. It was too big.

Talk to John at Soul. They changed suppliers of the cat. Has more palladium in it I would imagine.

Some more impressions
1. Intake noise is much more pronounced
2. Turbo whine increased
3. Burbling amplified on downshifts

Car sounds so much better in all conditions.
