A repair like this isn’t going to show up on CarFax. The CarFax will show a service at the dealer, warranty service is about as detailed as you get.

My old car showed as "vehicle serviced" when the short block was swapped.

I had 991.2 with a PDK replaced under warranty. Carfax reported “Transmission Replaced”. I think it all depends on what the dealer reports.

Absolutely. In my case, I sold the car as-is to the dealer. So, comments vary widely. I think if they can ding your car, they will.

Out of curiosity, would you mind sharing the problem with your 991.2 PDK that required a warranty replacement? Thanks in advance.

See this thread in the 991 forum.

After the replacement car ran fine for another 10,000 miles but the noise was back. I ended up trading for a 992 because I wanted a 992 not because of the noise. 992 is MT though...

Porsche should have sent a new crate motor and took the chances for a mistake to happen out of the equation. This is too much to ask a dealership Tech to do for book rate. I asked where they wanted Pizza from today and 6 pies will be there for lunch! Thanks to Ft Wayne Porsche!!

Saw a few 992 9A2 motors being built today at the Zuffenhausen factory.

How do you defend this car? 33 days out of service and another 6 if the parts comes in Tuesday. That's if we don't need a PDK and I don't think we do. There is a remedy for this issue and it's not a t-shirt. LOL
PCNA is a total and absolute waste of time. Their goal is sell cars, once you've bought, please don't call again.

I've got a crap dealer who refuses to perform a TSB under the claim that my VIN isn't part of the batch affected when there is no VIN associated with the TSB. I was hoping PCNA would help. After 3 weeks they didn't even get a reply other than a voice mail from the dealer and that was the extent of their "support". I'll do the TSB myself after I do oil and tire swap.

I agree! As a former Porsche Master tech, it boggled my mind when PCNA asked us to do this level of teardown to find the root cause of failure for warranty time! That is a job for PCNA and their crack team of engineers in Germany to figure out. Thankfully, on all the blown up GT3 engine i did, most of the failures were easy to find so it did not take too long, but then they still sent a complete engine assembly. Only had to swap a couple items over and back on the road it went!
Hat's off to customers like you that treats your dealer staff well as I'm sure the pizza's were appreciated.

We've had 3 dealers in the past 10 years (we're a single dealership State alas) and every time I think we've hit bottom they go and surprise us. Dealerships are like airlines, anyone with some bucks can start one and as long as you sell, who cares about the rest.

I sense a '71 'Cuda is in my horizon, I'm just done with this crap.

If it makes it out tomorrow I'll have a fat wad of cash for the tech! Dinner for his family is on me! Wife offered to run me over tomorrow so I can pick up my summer toy. The guys at Ft Wayne Porsche are doing their best so this car comes out done correctly. I do a hat tip to my friends at PFW! They came out and pulled me off the highway and went above and beyond. It's to bad Porsche hasn't done the same and I've had to cut the attorney loose. He's been green lighted scorched earth. This could have been really bad if I hadn't pulled over when I did. If the rear end had locked up and I lost control during rush hour people could have been injured. Fact is the transmission locked up and they had to drag the car up the flat bed and soap it off. I don't know how many have used the 800 Porsche number for towing but it's automated and it SUCKS the fat one!! That system sucked when I called!! Scores an F-. What a joke!! Someone at Porsche should be fired for how this has worked out! I've sold a 2022 Porsche, canceled another one and let's see where the 992 ends up! The odds are high if I do pick up the car I don't make it to the Ohio state line.

I used 800 Porsche once to have my 992 Towed from Cape Cod to Boston Dealer... The tow driver they sent showed up with a flat bed that did not have the ability to tilt properly, and he didnt have any type of ramp extension. He called his partner who showed up with another flat bed without ramp extensions but claimed it would work... Half way up the ramp they scratched the under side of both the front and rear splitters... Lawyer was sent to collect directly from their insurance company to replace both pieces, and I filed a complaint with Porsche North America for not hiring proper tow truck companies to pick up 6 figure cars with low clearance.. Lot of good that did, never heard anything from Porche NA and clearly they still hire SH*T tow companies to move around their product. Shockingly the best luck ive had with tow trucks is directly through the AAA gold membership, so I just stick with that now when needed.

Another reason to call out those dealers who do go above and beyond as well as the crap ones who do as little as possible for as long as possible for as much as possible.

Do not grant 10s and 9s to dealers who treat you like crap in the hopes of having a relationship. You don't have one, either with them or PCNA. The reality is that the ethos of VW to sell at any cost and beat Toyota has permeated a company that lauded "excellence is expected" as its credo. It hasn't for a long time. Caveat emptor.
