Anyone know if all 2500 have been spoken for at this point? I've had a deposit at my dealer for a while now but no confirmed allocation. Do I still have a chance to get one at this point or no way??

my SA seemed pretty convinced he could get me a Dakar for enough adm. last week. They’re building 2500 units, which is pretty close to the number of gt3 tourings. Limited but not that limited. I suspect it’s just strange enough (and awesome) that a lot of folks ignore it

I'm in the same boat as you and I believe we still have a chance. Firstly, because Porsche will be building more and more "special editions" that are not very limited and compete with the other special editions. Secondly, because 2,500 is a lot of cars for a narrow niche. To put things in perspective, that's more than the 7.2GT3s sold. Also, they made 1,000 Rs and are making 2,000 STs. 250 997 SCs compared to 1,250 992 SCs. So, between a lot of special editions and higher production numbers of those special editions, I'm sure they'll sell them all but I don't think they'll move that quickly. One last data point: apparently there are only about 100 people in the VIP list, so the number of cars that will be sold to collectors before even dealers get allocations is very small.

I received an allocation a couple of days ago, and now I can see my order on "track-your-dream" along with a commission number and all the estimated milestones. However, I still have doubts about whether I really need it or if I should continue driving the 2022 C2S.

Also interested in a Dakar if anyone has any leads. Willing to trade a 6MT Transsyberia and/or 996 GT3 if it helps the cause. Few air cooled cars available for that matter too.

A buddy of mine ran across this homemade “Dakar”. I suppose if you can’t buy one, make one.
